Sep 27, 2012 3:03 PM in response to CoreyBBby sdmcgowan,Yeah, that's what I was thinking.... But it's a 64 GB. And nearly full. It took 2 hours for the initial setup. I really didn't want to go through that again if I didn't have to..

Sep 27, 2012 3:38 PM in response to mhabashyby Qjuantum,Darn, there is definitively a bug draining on iOS 6 as well as faulty batteries.
In order to rule out drainange by means of restoring from backup causing memory leaks, about 2hrs ago I restored my iPhone 5 as a new iPhone without restoring from backup.
I have not used the phone at all, just been on standby for 2 hrs and experienced 5% drop. It drains a lot slower that if I would have restored from backup but is still draining.
Definitvely bad battery.. Stand by advertised by apple was 225hrs,

Sep 27, 2012 3:42 PM in response to mhabashyby Realmaverick,Since getting my iPhone 5 on Friday, I've been shocked by the terrible battery life. Saturday in London, it died after 4 hours usage, from 100%.
My friends iPhone 5 was at 41% battery with 5.5 hours usage, it obviously didn't add up. His iPhone would have likely lasted almost 10 hours of usage.
Both were using our phones to take pics and that's it. Yet both iPhones were giving massively different battery lives.
Both iPhones were setup from an iCloud backup from an iPhone 4.
All week my battery has been terrible. Tonight I said down with both iPhones and ensured all settings were the same, location services, Bluetooth etc. I then charged both phones to 100%, closed all running apps, set brightness to 100% and volume to 5 bars. I then ran BBC iPlayer over wifi, my battery drained over twice as fast. My battery was at 92% after 20 minutes and my friends at 97%. I then tried deleting my apps and trying again, the issue persisted.
I then deleted my iCloud backup and created a fresh backup. Erased my phone and setup as new. I download BBC iPlayer and repeated the tests, amazingly 20 minutes of playing and my iPhone is still at 99% and has only just budged! My friends is now at 97%. I'm going to continue the tests and see what else I find. But it appears these issues are definitely software related and perhaps due to a dodgy iCloud backup.
So even my friends iPhone 5, which was slaughtering mine, appears to be leaking battery, compared to a newly setup iPhone 5.
I'll keep playing about and testing and report back if I find anything of interest. Saves taking my phone back, as I thought I had a dud. Apple need to resolve this quickly, it can't be doing much for their reputation, on top of the hysteria about maps!

Sep 27, 2012 6:48 PM in response to mhabashyby basai1212,I had the iphone5 for a week now - I tried letting the phone die and then re-charging it, went to the AT&T store and the genius bar. This is my first iphone and I have to say I am REALLY disappointed with it. I mean, it's a beautiful phone, really fast and all, BUT the battery only lasts 6/7 hours max basically in stand-by so it's pretty much useless. The AT&T lady laughed at me and said that the battery doesn't last because how fast the LTE connection is..., the guy at the genius bar said there is nothing wrong with the battery and than I should wait some more days to see if the situation improves. If I am not happy with the phone, I can return it - these are his exact words. He also suggested recharghing it during the day, duh, that's a pretty smart suggestion, I had to line up at the apple store to hear that! Well, all I can say that I am returning the phone tomorrow. I am disappointed with the customer service at both apple and At&t and ESPECIALLY the attitude : you got a great phone, why are you complaining if the battery *****?! You can return it if you don't like it, basically "take it or leave it" - I think this is very rude and unacceptable, thanks apple-

Sep 27, 2012 9:30 PM in response to Realmaverickby smaki77,I am having all the same issues. On my third phone. Second phone diagnostics indicated battery problem. And to start right I did a clean start. Major PITA. Had high hopes. But they were dashed. My phone made it to 4:30 this afternoon with light internet use - phone calls - some texting - 20 min of words with friends - 5 hours and 14 minutes. I have had it with this phone - I love the way it works but 5 hrs of battery life is unacceptable. I will most likely be returning it to ATT for a refund. I am torn - want to make it work and not sure about the droids - wish Apple would step up and say they are fixing them

Sep 28, 2012 5:33 AM in response to smaki77by basai1212,The problem is that apple doesn't care. For every 100 iPhone returned thee are a 1000 people who want one and are willing to charge it every few hours just to have it. It's my first iPhone and I am very disappointed especially because apple refuse to acknowledge there is a problem with the battery life!

Sep 28, 2012 5:47 AM in response to mhabashyby ninjaeclipse,Hey, someone here had said they restored their phone from DFU mode, put in original IOS 6 FW and then restore their backup and their battery lasted longer. I have done just the same and now my battery is lasting alot longer! My phone was at 99%, almost an hour later, it's still at 99%. Before it would drop 2% every 2 minutes on standby.
So you must put the phone in DFU and restore. Google DFU.
Try it guys.

Sep 28, 2012 5:56 AM in response to ninjaeclipseby JCrew7384,I tried restoring to iOS6 through DFU mode. I noticed a marginal increase in battery life, but its still pretty bad.
