Here's a very informative post that explains the bookmark battery drain

I seem to not be having the same issues as anyone else. I didn't receive a chipped/scratched phone, maps works good for me, and my phone doesn't freeze.

As far as battery life, when i got my phone friday i charged it to 100%. Then I let it get all the way to 3% before charging again. I used LTE sparingly and I kept apps closed when not in use. I got 9 hrs 42 mins of usage and 1 day 7 hrs of standby. I supposed I could have squeezed 18 more mins out to get to 10 hrs.

As of right now, my phone is at 50%, LTE has been on the entire time. I have 5 hrs 24 mins of usage, and 1 day, 1 hour of standby. I don't understand why you guys are having issues especially if you are iphone veterans. close apps when not in use, use do not disturb when sleeping, and turn down screen brightness when sleeping.

If you're wondering, I have a Black 64GB ATT iPhone 5. This is my 5th charge cycle. Friday>Saturday>Monday>Wednesday>Thursday (current). I will probably charge my phone before going to work tomorrow night. Not sure.

Good for you! I wish I knew how to make it to 10 hrs because currently it really s u c k s. I just tried the DFU trick with iCloud restore and it is just like before... I have an appointment tomorrow morning at my Apple Store. I guess switching iPhones won't do anything... I'm frustrated. I do all it needs to save my battery life and it doesn't change anything. From 100% to 98% this morning on Internet radio in just 5 minutes. WOW

when you stream that will use your battery in ALL instances.

A lot of BS work around that we shouldn't have to be doing.

I did the DFU restore and it's actually worse now.... Draining by the minute. This is insane! Just logging coming to this site and logging in I'm down 2%... And standby for an hour I drop 5%!!!

OMG this is just NOT tolerable. What do we do now?!?

Apple you need to issue a recall our iPhone 5 battery's are bring drained by the minute I and all people in this form should start writing to news reporters this problem needs to go viral and on the news ASAP I experienced the same problem with three iPhone 5 64 gb white and black model returns 900 + dollars this is insane

Tried the restore as new phone, let battery completely go dead and then charge, turned off notifications. No change in fast battery drain. Called Apple support, said everything I tried was good but also instructed me how to see what Apps were open ( quickly tap home button twice, tray at bottom shows apps, hold down on apps until they wiggle and red circle with minus sign appears. Click on red circle to shut down app). Was glad to learn this because I was unsure how to check before. But even with this, not much change. I'm Hoping its an ios6 issue that can b fixed with a patch. Guess will have to wait and see. Would be nice to hear something from Apple.

Hope everyone here has reported to Apple? Only way to have them address. Only issues I'm seeing discussed on web is regarding maps, this has to have more attention drawn to it. Please call Apple!

Go into settings, about, diagnostics & usage, diagnostic & usage data

Do you see a bunch of crash files? It seems there are various iCloud sync services that are crashing for some. Contacts, bookmarks, safari tabs and reading list to name a few.  When these processes crash, they do two things to burn battery.

    1. The crashed process can get in a loop where it continually runs and fails to resulting battery run off

    2. If you are sending crash reports to apple, this can use wifi or cellular data resulting in more battery drain.

Additionally, it looks like if you have weak or no LTE signal your battery drains more than with the old 3G iPhones.  If you are on wifi, turn off cellular data until you leave your wifi location.

    Good luck!

So went into apple store today (Perth City), trying to find some light on this issue or even a replacement. The first time they weren't very helpful... They just said because its a new phone it runs down a bit quicker so just use it for a couple weeks and see if it improves. I explained to them I've done everything from reset, restore and setting up as a new phone. They didn't run any diagnostics or anything just told me to keep charging it and see if it improves... So that was that.

Then I rang apple care support and they basically tried to brush me off also, I've told her what the situation was and what I've tried. She acknowledge that I've tried everything I could. So she gave me a link on how to maximise ur battery... Which pretty says everything I've tried. But she said if problem still persists I should bring it back to my carrier provider where I purchased it? I've never known apple to advise u to bring it back to anyone else it them? And fat chance Optus will replace it for u!

So now I'm just stuck for the moment.. Battery draining 1-2% when I wake it up... Everything is pretty much off very bare minimal notifications... Lose about 10-15% overnight(6hrs). Brightness below 50%, closed all apps nothing in the background... Lost 5% typing this over wifi...

    Just have to wait now....

Update, with wifi on and use cellular data off, the phone lost 1% battery (went from 97 down to 96) in 10 hrs of standby last night....

Next test is to turn on cellular data but turn off LTE and see how it does
