    I turned off "Enable LTE" just for kicks this morning. TREMENDOUS difference. Everything else enabled that people have been talking about, like location services, notifications, and iCloud. I've used my phone for 2 hours, the exact same as yesterday, including a quick 5 minute navigation guided drive. Still at 100%.


    With LTE turned on yesterday, I would've been about 80% give or take.

    I'm on the LTE bandwagon of eating the battery also. I noticed at home when I'm on wifi (i do get a lot better LTE signal at home than work since I live in downtown St Louis and work in the county) I get much better battery life and I was out of town this weekend in a non LTE area and my battery life was much better even with low signals. I turned off my LTE this morning and my battery seems to be much better so far. Not saying this is the whole issue but I think it's a major factor. That said I shouldn't have to turn off LTE to increase my battery this much. Ill update later on how the rest of my battery does today.

    just FYI to everyone, this issue isn't exclusive to LTE. We don't have LTE on o2 in the UK, it's not even in the settings and I am having the exact same issues.


    Sometimes I think I've cracked it, and battery improves, next day its back to it's usually ****** self.


    Anyway, Apple need to address it fast otherwise it's going back. Not gonna be stuck with a phone with a dodgy battery.

    It's not LTE, it's data in general. I have the same experience. When on wifi at home, battery lasts 10x better than if I were out and about using 3G.


    I just don't want us to get caught up on this LTE thing, because it's not exclusive to that. Try 3G, you'll have the same experience. Granted that when on wifi, the battery lasts better, but it's not due to LTE.

    Hi everyone after posting since day one when I bought the Iphone 5 for at&t 64 gig white model I have returned and replaced three iphone 5 white and black 64 gig models with all the same battery problems on each device. I have tried disabling deleteing Icloud disabling LTE but battery drain is still and was the same on all three different Iphone 5 white and black 64 gig I even tried not to load any apps or anything except for the default usuage out of the box same problem everytime I think apple should start a recall I had engineer from apple contact me to install an app to monitor and or report usage but I'm not a guinea pig forproduct development or trouble shooting their devices I think if apple has the b-lls to charge 925 dollars a phone including tax in new york city then they should have enough money to research and develop an honest product I think tim cook is not cutting it as the CEO and I advise everyone with this problem to wrote to CNET , WIRED MAGAZINE , CNN, AND NBC NEWS , ALSO MACRUMORES , AND 9TO5 MACS!! you can write one email and cc all these companies apple needs to issue a recall or refund money without restocking fee I have followed 26000 threads and all are the same problem

    FYI, my battery life is 10x better since i turned off everything in icloud except contacts. I did this 4 days ago and it has been the only thing I have tried that actually lasted, now for four days straight. i did do a DFU mode then restore from icloud before that that helped some, but the combination of the restore and turning off icloud until i do my regular backups that i do, has been the real and steadfast fix!!! Its not LTE or 3g that has drained any of my iphones in an irregular fashion, unless there isn't a signal and has to continue to search for one. So everyone should try this process and see if it works for you also.

    this is not even the case my phone dies with usage within 3-4 and a half hours.

    Sorry about your dissatisfaction, but no where in Apples specs is there anywhere where it states the phone will last for 12 hours, and neither will any other smart phone with the iPhones capabilities.



    I get what Apple has advertised in their specs, and I have it setup with with all of the defaults, plus some. My two iPhone 5s, and 35 at the clinic are all spot on.


    Of course we don't run games, and any other low end software. These people are all doctors, nurses, and support staff, so if there was a problem, I'd know about it.


    Even the new map app works fine for us, in our area, L.A., Nevada, and most of Arizona.


    You, and most people that are having issues, are having misbehaving third party apps, configuration issues, old equipment whereby the phone has to work very hard to maintain connections that use up the battery far faster than it should.

    I had same issue, apple give me a new phone, they say it might be software problem, but the 2nd phone has fast drain too, I took it to apple , they restored my phone as new, and iCloud backed up my contact. I thought about the whole thing, I used to sync it to my window, but this time I synced it with my Mac. 87% at 3:30pm. I think that window has bugs. It is not my iPhone 5's problem. After all those stressful days.

    I think my kids download YouTube on window, that is why the computer is not clean.

    So I returned the iPhone and had it replaced with another and same issue. I did the dfu restore and it still seems like it was a futile attempt.


    I set it up as a new phone but installed apps from my computer, did I defeat the purpose by doing this?

    i too have had horrible battery life.


    my first iphone...100% to 40% in 3 hours of doing absolutely nothing...


    got a replacement...i thought it was better but wasnt...


    did DFU restore on the replacement...thought it was better, but it isnt...


    i want normal battery life please

    Your phone will get the same problem when you sync back. I am so happy, I synced it to a window computer because my iOS need to be updated, I called apple, they mailed me leopard. For two phones to get hot and drain fast, it turned out to be my computer problem, I am certain for that. I still have 70% at 5:30pm, with web, email and many phone calls. What a difference, I can not say all phone has the same issue, I struggled for 12 days. If any doubt, You could try for 2 days without sync to iTunes after restore from icloud, see if the battery is good.
