    Mines been off charger since 4am and its now 720 am its at 98% and ive sent emails been on Facebook and tweeted as well as listened to tunein radio for about 10 min on wifi. mines been great!Better than the 4s was. 64 gig on ATT net

    Tony, that's great for you! I'd be happy with the usage you are getting but, I don't get anywhere near that good. I'm not on Verizon for those interested in that issue.

    I turned off Bluetooth. I dont know if your aware that the default setting on the iphone 5 are on? I have the lte off too, no networks in Hartford Connecticut area.I turned off push on email,but thats it. Siri is on and passbook and most other notification. Im a UPS Man and im constantly using the phone for looking up bad addresses to maps and its been great. I carry a Isound battery with me with 5 USB inputs and top off the phone at lunch time. Its usally @ 92% by then and that was before I turned off the LTE and email push. I would try turning the phone off after you shut down the LTE and notification and push email settings and see if that helps. Have a great day

    Hey,  i have the same problem  Have 64gb model and battery drains very quickly.  I also get fuzzy lines when purchasing apps.  Lines appear when i am asked to input my password.

    Just a quick update on my situation re my 64Gb black iPhone5 on O2 in the UK (no LTE): Having turned various settings off (Siri, iCloud Safari/Passbook/Mail and location services to a minimum), updated apps as they are released and close apps down frequently, things have improved a bit to the point where I could limp through a working day not having to recharge at work (with a few personal calls).


    (Yes I know I shouldn't have to turn stuff off but when its only way to get through the day with some battery remaining you do what you have to do. For those of you who have great battery life: envious look!)


    Still not great and hope that Apple get to the bottom of things for those of us who aren't gettinig great battery performance so that I know if I should return handset or wait for iOS6.x


    Apple reps - I would be happy to be contacted if you want to run any diagnostics on my phone!

    New experiment last night.  Full charged the battery BEFORE I went to be.  So battery was 100% and both usages were at 0 mins.  Woke up, standby was 6.5hrs, correct amount I slept, usage was 16mins though!  This was with everything on except Siri and BT.  BUT to my great surprise it was still at 100%!  Which is very weird to me since the night b4 it went down 5% in 5.5hrs.


    But now the plot thickens!  After I got up, I marked emails as read, then turned OFF LTE to test that again today.  During my hour long commute it went down by 2%!  Then another 1% in first 15mins being at work, and now 3% typing this out!  Seems to be similar to last time I turned OFF LTE, in that its going thru the battery faster, than with it ON.


    But I think there may be something to this "low signal stuff".  I think it's "part" of the problem, but at home I get full bars of 4G (no LTE), at work I only get 3 or 2 bars of 4G, and it does seem like it goes down quicker at work, but even for things not using data.  Oh just went down another 1% since the last time I types about precent in this post!

    I really think that the counter changing during the standby is really due to the email fetch! I have done a quick test by changing the fetch timeout from 15 minutes to 30 minutes and the result is as follow:


    15 minutes: after one hour of stanby my "usage" counter was counting about 4 minutes more than before which means that the device has been waked up 4 times for 1 minute each time. It make sense because in one hour it will fetch the emails 4 times.


    30 minutes: after one hour of standby the usage counter was incremented only by 2 minutes  wish also make sense.


    Was it like that also in previoous IOs/Iphones versions?


    Any feedback about usage increment during standby time?

    With LTE OFF today I'm at 23% now at 1:43pm in the afternoon with a whole 3.5hrs of usage, woo!  Worst yet!


    For me LTE ON gives me better battery life, by about 2 hrs of more usage, still bad though.


    I'll test the 30min fetch time, but that's not really the problem, nor am I going to change it every time b4 I go to bed.


    Apple, you may contact me to perform any tests/diagnostic you want on my phone, just let me know you are working on this and that there will be a fix at some point!

    I'm not really sure what you have tried but I was having a little trouble with my battery life as well so I looked in location services. You know how at the bottom it says the apps with the grayed out arrow next to them have used your location in the last 24 hrs? Well I turned off a few of those that I don't feel are necessary and it actually helped out a lot. Seems night and day so I guess one of them was draining my phone. Anyways, it's worth a shot.

    I've tried that, I did that with the last phone too (iPhone 4).


    Honestly I've tried everything anyone has mentioned except getting a new phone and setting it up as "new".  Which I may do at the end of this week, litterally the last thing I could try, but I hate to lose all my app data.  If I setup as "new" and it still doesn't work, can I still reset it again and restore from backup to get app data back?

    Hey guys, I finally took my phone back to the Apple store after only getting 4-7 hours battery life. They replaced my phone with a brand new handset and problem seems to be resolved although the battery life still isn't as goo as I was expecting (hope that is sorted in the iOS update.


    Would thing I will say is if you are restoring from a back up just be aware it can take many hours for all your content to be re-downloaded. This happens when connected to WiFi and silently does it in the background. So make sure your phones are not trying to download loads of media.

    Hi guys,


    I have been through 3 different iphone 5's so far and looks like I am headed for a 4th. Each one has had some sort of defect as detailed below:


    -first iphone - would only get about 4-5 hrs max battery usage. I restored the phone twice and did 3 full cycle charges to no avail. Returned the phone to apple and got a new phone.


    - second iphone - Battery life on this phone was pretty decent but the phone was overall defective. The screen would freeze and turn off and eventually wouldnt even turn on at all.


    - third iphone - current Iphone i am using. Replaced replacement phone as described above. No screen issues but the battery life is back to the way it was with my first iphone. That is 4-5hrs max usage. I have tried everything. Turning off services, turning off LTE, turning off Push, turning off sync, resetting the phone and full cycle charges to no avail.


    I left my charger at home this morning and brought the phone with me to 1230pm the battery was completely drained and I took the phone off the charger at around 7am this morning. During that time, all i did was listen to radio via tune in. I have never had that happen before. My iphone 4 could stream tune in for 8+hrs a day and still have 40% left. Even my old 3gs can stream tune in until 3pm under the same circumstances. This is totally unacceptable!


    I have the 64gb black iphone. It retails for approx $900. At the price, is it too much to ask that I have a working phone and that it works the way it is advertised?


    So far I have had 3 iphone 5's and each one has been defective. That is abismall and embarassing quality control. My wife has the GS3 and that thing is amazing. I never thought Id be jealous of an android phone yet here I am. If anyone from apple is reading this...Replace my phone with an android and I will gladly accept.

    This is exactly what I did I returned all three replacement iphones from att 64 gig white model and went on ebay and repurchased my old iphone 4s loaded ios 6.0 on it and the battery life is 100 percent better ! Went crazy going thru 3 Iphone 5's 64 gig model I can believe I wasted my time and effort on this sh----t I onder what apple is doing with our returns (hopefully planing a recall) because this is not only a software bug but a hardware issue judging from the fact that When i went back to my iphone 4s brand new one and loaded ios 6.0 i ddnt have nearly the bad battery problems as iphone 5.


    Apple if your reading these threads we are all returing our iphone 5's you will lose more mooney if you dont get a fix out there asap or make an official recall this is not the only fourm with battery issues there another fourm on apples site with over 200,000 people already with the same issue plus the 45,000 people on this fourm have a million people soon aere not bull--sh--ting your phone are horrible I even signed up with tmobile and their android phone for the near future . for now I will be using the iphone 4s after 3 iphone 5 returns!!

    I am having this problem as well. I am not using it all of the time and it still drains. I thought the battery life for the 5 is better then previous phones. I have the 4 and I must say my battery lasted alot longer then this 5. I sure hope they fix this.
