    The LTE reception issues aren't limited to the iPhone 5. I have the same problem on 2 iPhones and the new ipad. I am 400 meters from the cell tower. 3G is 5 bars on the iPad. LTE is 1 bar if it even manages to grab the signal. Usually it reverts to 3G or says no service.  I am quite disillusioned with Apple products because of this.

    Update Montreal, Quebec (Laval-South shore)


    Ok in my area, very difficult to get a good LTE signal. For the south shore I get a corridor from Champlain Bridge to the Metro/subway but speeds are not that good

    1. 12.44 mbps /2.93 mbps /39ms /Lat 45.4733/Long -73.5424 and the best speed was 16.10/22.09  Lat 45.5293/Long-73.5125

    Basically if I go outside the corridor it’s 3G.


    For Montreal downtown, I was at Rush concert recently (18oct) and Crescent street no LTE, even Bell center no LTE (probably because I was inside building ? )


    And Laval (St-Dorothee) to Boisbrian was spotty at best… LTE when I was on highway 15 but that’s about it…..


    I spoke twice to Bell Mobility tech via 611 and I was told to shut off LTE and stick with 3G (I was not a happy camper with that answer)

    I called Bell and made a complaint to customer service which was escalated to VP group and I was answered within 48 hours and they suggested to open a permanent ticket with tech support to monitor my situation or to replace nano-sim to see if situation improves.... :/

    Lastly I went to my Bell store and asked for new nano-sim... I was told (it’s 25$) ….then they said network was not really everywhere and eventually it will get upgraded ........


    Finally been reading this forum, Telus forum and Rogers forum…we all have the same problem…..guess I will wait for IOS 6.01 to see if they patch something ….

    Not sure if it will help anyone on this thread, but iOS 6.0.1 is out today with some fixes. Doesn't claim anything specific for LTE, but claims various other fixes.

    I did the update. It did nothing, actually I had to flip the LTE switch like 10 times before it turned on. Signal is still weak and dropped off. Apple didn't do anything. I'm really disappointed and I'm sure this will be my last iphone ever.

    The update fixed the issue for me.  My phone now goes directly from wi-fi to LTE.  I don't need to toggle the enable LTE switch.

    Update makes switching much faster.  Didn't improve signal but it holds on to LTE longer before reverting.

    Updated it an hour ago at 2:00. Noticed LTE doesn't drop as quickly in my house but it eventually discounts and drops all signal. I had no other issues regarding the keyboard or wifi.

    No improvement on my end. Maybe it holds a weaker LTE longer (wasn't obvious), but still switches between LTE, o, and 3G, with no real data flow during that switching. Battery drain.  Bad.

    Updated my phone to iOS 6.0.1. The updates note didn't specifically address the reception issue and the update itself did nothing on my phone. LTE still weak. When 3G is 4 or 5 bars LTE is one bar or no signal in the same location. When it when it works its fast but that is the exception not the rule.

    I have noticed a little less "o" with 6.0.1, but also noticed the same poor stuck on 3G when transitioning to a strong LTE area. I moved from a weak signal area (phone locked on 3G) to a strong LTE signal, likely from the same tower and my phone sat on 3G the whole time, never attempting to lock back to LTE. I am sure I could have forced it by toggling Airplane mode, but I was trying to see if the phone would do it on its own in a timely manner and it did not.

    I am also having network speed issues with the Verizon iPhone 5. I do not have 4G where I live but I do live near a cell site and get full bars and 3G. When I had my 4S it was fast and worked perfectly fine... Ever since upgrading to the iPhone 5 the 3G is slower....I mean exceptionally slow or does not work at all. I'm starting to believe that its not a network problem but a problem with the design of the CDMA/LTE chip in the iPhone. Apple needs to address this issue fast because my phone hardly works and is leaking data and running up my bill in the process.

    I've seen slight improvements since the update. One glaring thing that's better is when the phone switches from WiFi to cellular when you're moving away. For example, when I walk the dog, I have to wait until I'm a quarter mile away before it finally stops trying to access my WiFi (and the connection is so poor 100 feet away that the internet is unusable until it switches or I switch it off manually). Now, it gives up and switches a lot faster - maybe within a few hundred feet. I can't say I've seen any increase in signal strength. I'll need a few more days of testing to determine whether it's any more efficient at switching between LTE and 4G.

    Update didnt do anything for me, but I was able to ask a co-worker who just got an ATT iphone5 if I can do a speedtest, and now I truly regret having switched from ATT to Verizon. I was getting 0,65mb DL while he was getting 11.86mb on his phone. He had 4 bars of lte, I had 2 bars which then soon after doing the speed test switched to 3g then O,


    Im going to switch back to ATT and try to get the etf waived for no lte service.

    Thank god I returned my replacement phone on Monday. I was trying to wait it out for the upate to come out but I didn't have any more days left in which to keep the phone without being locked in. After hearing all these post ios 6.0.1 update comments I'm glad I returned it. I'll wait until all this nonsense is straightened out.
