With Facebook intergrated into the new iOS6, all the birthdays from my Facebook have been placed into iCal. Under Settings, I have switched iCal to "off" but it still places the birthdays in my calendar. Does anyone know how I can make it not do this?

In the Calander app, click on the 'Calanders' button on the top left. Scroll to the bottom and uncheck 'Birthdays' under the Facebook category.

Hey thanks! Once I unchecked the box it took them off my calendar, however they still show up under my notifcations. I went under Facebook settings again and turned off contacts and now they birthdays do not show up anywhere. It still kept everyones profile pics, I just don't have hundreds of contacts anymore...so I guess it is a win-win.

How did you keep your friends' profile pictures? When I disable contacts under Facebook settings, all data just disappears.
Just go to the Calendar App itself and on the top left is a settings option. When you scroll down in that menu, you can shut off Facebook Birthdays or Events.
And if you want to keep the birthdays but lose the notifications, you can right-click on the "Birthdays" calendar (in the Calendars sidebar on the left), choose "Get Info" from the pop-up menu, and then check the box that says "Ignore alerts."
I had this problem as well. I deleted the app and it still was showing the birthday calendar in the list even though it was not selected and I was getting the notifications. To get rid of this, you have to go to the Settings App then scroll down to the facebook section (below the default apps & twitter) and delete your acount from there.
Wow thank you! I flipped when I saw all of the birthdays. I have 500 Facebook friends and there is no way I want more than 5 of them on my calendar (family). Crazy that they default that.
How do I remove that "birthdays" option in "other calendars? I don't even want it there.
