When iPod volume is set to mid range and no music is playing the system sound is mid range even with ringer volume turned up to full. Then when the iPod is set to full volume and no music isolation system sounds are at full even though ringer volume was never changed.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Do a "Reset All Settings" and it's fixed. Jordanb5816 is right. It's related to Siri. If you had restored from a previous iphone, do the reset.
Yes, a reset all setting did the trick. My ear speaker volume was unacceptible before I performed the reset.

It's more than mildly annoying. It's major annoying. And, I don't want to have to "Reset All Settings" and lose all my settings to fix it.
It was working fine until today.
I restarted my phone and it's working better, however I still think the "new mail" alert volume is not as high as it was when I got the phone...
How did you "add your info to Siri"?

For me it seems fixed in iOS 6.0.1. Did you update?
No. The update did not solve the issue.
I fixed it by going into Settings, General, Accessibility, Incoming Calls - turn on the Speaker. Go figure. But now it's totally normal volume for alerts, music AND calls.
I would consider that more of a "workaround" than a "fix". ;).
In the meantime, hoping its fixed in the next iOS update.

I was also given a new iphone 5 to rule out hardware. Volume issue still happens after using Siri. It IS a software issue. Have not upgraded to 6.0.2.
I did a HW exchange. Doesn't fix the issue. Sorry. ***.
