Horizontal lines on iphone5

I actually have the same flickering issue with my handset as well. Not sure what it is but its very annoying as this is my first apple iPhone product. Make sure you register your product and call apple.

I have a similar issue too. For me I get some horozontal lines towards the bottom of the screen of my iPhone 5. It only occurs sometimes and for not that long. The lines are kinda staticy and seem to be multicolored. It could be a coincidence, but it has only occured when bringing up the on screen keyboard so far.

I'm really worried about this. Its my first iPhone and i would hate to have issues for the next 3 years. I'm going to wait it out for the next few days and see if it continues. If it does i'm headed to the apple store. Good thing we have a year of free replacement for these things!

Same thing here with the new iPhone 5. Its defective. I'm returning this to the Apple store today. I'm also debating whether or not to return this for a refund and not buy any more Apple products due to the customer service. I was told by the Apple Store and Apple Care that they could not divulge their stock situation when I asked if there were any in stock at the store. I would rather not drive an hour away for an appointment to know there isn't anything they can do other than the same thing AT&T will do, that is order a new phone. Not trying to be critical, but I've never shelled out that kind of cash on something and had it defective. AT&T customer service was great, Apple's customer service makes me want to return the thing and get my cash back. It isn't the employees, its the corporate policy. And seriously, charge me a $35 restocking fee on a defective product? I bet you an attorney would love to argue this isn't a good idea.

I'm going to wait it out for the week. Apple stores are brutally busy right now and there is a one year hardware warranty so we all have some time :)

I noticed this too, but everytime it happens to me, it seems to happen in iTunes when I'm typing my password during a purchase. I haven't seen it elsewhere but it's just as you described. Static like lines towards the bottom of the screen.

Hi I have the same problem as well. Only happens when I enter my password in the App Store. Could it be a software bug? It doesn't happen all the time. Roughly 2-3 times a day.

I have called Apple to create an escalation. I have a hunch this is an issue with the App store rather than the phones. I am waiting to see before I go through all the hassle of replacing it, the phone is performing excellently otherwise. I have a mixture of numbers and letters in my password, seems to be triggered by flicking to numeric keyboard and then dissappears when flicking back to text keyboard.

I've been having this issue as well. Same as the rest of you. It happens when I'm using the keyboard, either in a text or to ender a password, etc, when I click the numeric button to access numbers and symbols.

I hadn't consdered it may be a software issue. Let's hope that's the case and gets resolved with an update.

This is fantastic! Thank you for taking the time to do this. As soon as you hear anything i'm sure i speak for all of us when i say we would greatly appreciate some answers.

my phone is working great to other then this issue but am a little upset that we've spent this money only to hve to deal with a display issue.

I get this only when entering my App Store password. Taking a screenshot makes it go away. it's deffinetly software.

I've had the same here but only once on release day when entering my App Store password too. Going to wait a bit to get it replaced. My local Apple Store won't tell if the phone is in stock and is usually swamped for a week or so after release.
