iOS 6 battery life terrible
iPad 3 updated to iOS 6 and as usual it was 100% charged when I went to bed. Woke up and battery totally drained. I'm guessing iOS 6.1 is needed ASAP?

I haven't charged my iPad 3 since I updated it virtually 48 hours ago and it's at 80%

http://www.apple.com/batteries/ might offer some helpful pointers...
JUst wanted to add that I'm having the same problem and its rendered my iPad 3 and iPhone 4 useless. I charged my iOS 6 running iPhone last night to 100%, unplugged it at around 4:30 and by 8 it had shut off. The iPad drained 40% overnight. Note I was not using either at the time and not that it matters but brightness is lowest it goes and there is good service so it wasn't searching for service. I have never had such issues with either product before.
Strange, my battery is working longer than with 5. I can work almost 10 hours in a row now.
ok battery life looks like it is affecting only the ipad 3. think about how many apps u run in the back ground plus siri. also if you are pushing email often it kills battery life.
in all shut down un nessary apps and turn down brightness
Cheers, but I can't imagine the brightness will do anything as the display was off and the iPad asleep all night (can't get any darker than a black screen!).
Ta, that might stop the symptoms but it was working perfectly before. No Siri prob only safari open, it's down it again this afternoon, lost 60% in about 4 hours of standby (no use at all). Tempted to roll back to 5 (not that much extra in 6 I've found useful - less said about maps the better!).
Mine is also horrible on my ipad3. I am only browsing the web, screen is at less than half on the brightness, and no other apps are running. In 20 min my battery has dropped from 68 to 51 %! Ridicules...
I noticed this running Pages (iWork), but otherwise I haven't had a problem.
The battery life on my iPhone 4S is terrible after the upgrade to iOS 6. I have to charge my phone half way through the day now. If I don't, my phone will die by late afternoon.
The strange part is I had all the ios 6 betas installed prior to imaging to the final. I was getting great battery life on the final beta 4. Have no idea what they could have changed in the final to kill this so dramatically. Btw I am down another 5% from my post above again only reading the news on safari and flipboard, low brightness???
I see no noticeable change in battery life with iOS 6 on both my iPhone 4 or iPad 3. I have seen a rare occasional increase in battery drain on my iPhone in the past with iOS 5 which I wouldn't be surprised to see it in iOS 6 as well. What fixes it for me is to close all apps by holding the Home button then hold an icon at the bottom till they wiggle then tap the x closing them all. Then restart by holding the Sleep button till "Slide to power off" appears starting it up by holding the Sleep button till you see the Apple logo once it has completely shut down.
I suspect something goes wrong with either the OS or one of the apps that can cause an increase in the battery drain. Closing all the apps may not be necessary but it forces me to clean things up once in a while. This same fix has helped a few friends who thought their batteries were going bad on their iPhones as well.
Yep, my battery life on 4S is now also terrible. It's doing exactly what it did on the IOS5 update - saying usage time is exactly the same as standby time, despite it not being used once during the night. This was eventually fixed by a later update to IOS5 so I guess we just have to wait for yet another fix to a problem I thought Apple had sorted.
I'm not seeing issues during standby, but I can say that batter life has been cut BIGTIME on iPad2, iPad3, iPhone4 and iPhone4s. I can also say that our new iPhone5's aren't getting anywhere near what Apple is reporting for battery performance. There's a big, big problem. In the past, it seemed to be that Apple had iOS reporting all kinds of crap back to them in the initial release of iOS 4 and 5, but I just checked Settings > About > Diagnostics & Usage and not only is it set not to send that information to apple, but there's almost no data there, so that's not the problem this time around...
I hope this gets fixed! With standard use that would get me 1.5 days without a charge on my 4s with 5X. Now I can't get through half a day with an iPhone 5.
It's broken for sure.
