My iPhone 5 will not turn on

My iPhone 5 was working perfectly yesterday. Then I wake up this morning and it is completely dead. I have tried to charge it. I have tired plugging it into iTunes. But it will not come on. It was fully charged last night. Nothing happened to it over night and the only thing I have done with it is sync it to itunes and send some tweets and texts since I got it.

What can I do?!?!

PLEASE HELP?!?!

iOS 6

Thats exactly what happened to me and i tried everything. It died last night so i put it on the charger and i saw the red battery with the bolt on the bottom. And then next morning i wake up............ the screen was black and i couldnt turn it on in any possible way. i tried to put if on the charger again . I LITERATELLY WENT BEAST ON MY IPHONE 5. i looked online for any solution to fix it but nothin helped i even tried to plug it in the computer and it still wouldnt come on. I had this weird feeling that it wasnt the iphone i kinda have a feeling it was the charger. My dad had my charger to give to a guy so he can activate it and then he gives me back my charger and it was jacked up but it was working perfectly when he gave it to me. So is it the iphone or charger. HELP ME !! i did nothing on it at all but play games and go on the internet. But i also think the guy that my dad gave it to, jail broke it and now it doesnt work.HELP ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😠

Just happened to me 10 minutes ago. I woke up it it was dead, even tho it was on charge next to me. I tried unplugging it, connecting it to different sockets and computers and nothing.

It was the hard restart that did it thanks to GobshyteWhyteon here.

I had to hol it for what seemed to be an unnatural amount of time but it did come on

(hold down centre button and power button) and its champion again.

I agree that its disserning that it happens at all and to so many.

Sort it out Apple

I have an iPhone 5 and the same thing happened to me this morning. I looked at my phone at 12:30 am ct this morning and then when I woke up at 5 am ct it would not turn on. So I plugged it into a different charger but about 30 minutes and nothing. I tried a hard restart but no luck. I've tried plugging it into the computer and nothing. What do i do?

My iphone died off just like most of yours did..

It was 64% battery remaining when I went to bed, next morning I woke up and it couldn't start off again even I plug in to charge it, also tried press Home + Lock button!!

Worst thing I went to the service centre and they are not helpful at all!! They asked me to call the help line and later when I call the help line, operator told me the centre is closed~ 😠

Guys, just to let you know that my problem continued so I went back to the Apple Store and they just swapped me the handset, no fuss, no questions, just swapped it.

Unfortunately I got a handset that had a similar problem (reset itself but came back on - happened a lot!) so I took it back again. The guys in the Store told me its almost certainly a hardware issue causing it and it looks like I was just massively unlucky to have it happen twice.

I have a third handset now and, touch wood, it's all working fine.

My advice, get yourself to your nearest Apple Store and get it swapped. It doesn't appear to be a software issue so there won't be any fixes you can put in place.

The guys in the stores that I went to were absolutely great about it - really apologetic.

Two month old iPhone 5..Came home from work this evening and set my phone on the table. Picked it up after dinner and the screen was black....would not power on. I plugged it into the charger but no response. Left it on the charger for 15 minutes. Unplugged it.. Performed a hard reset by holding the buttons for 10-15 seconds and phone restarted.

Note: Earlier this week I noticed when I unlocked the phone from the lock screen, the screen would dim and I would have to type in the unlock code again?

I don't think this has been mentioned yet, but I finally figured this trick out for my iPhone 5 which refused to turn on even while plugged in to my computer or from a hard reset. It seemed to me like my connecting cable wasn't sitting quite as snuggly in the phone port as it usually does. I tried using compressed air to clear out any dust that got in the tiny lightning port, but still no luck. Finally, I took a paperclip/little pin that was long enough to fit in the tiny port and pulled out little dust clumps one at a time until I was sure there wasn't anything left. Plugged in my phone, and now it recognizes that there's a power source connected.

TL;DR: Use a small pin to clear out any dust from the lightning port. This could be preventing the cable from connecting properly.

I charged my phone to 100% around 9 pm. I text someone around 7:30 am. I checked to see if I missed the response around 8 am. My phone was dead. I thought maybe I had it on hotspot and it drained. So I plugged it in and tried to turn it on by holding power and home key for 3 sec. It did nothing.

Just tried a hard restart (hold down centre button and lock button) and it's come back on.The hard restart worked for me.🙂😁😎

I hope apple resolves this issue soon. ➖
