Oct 10, 2012 8:26 PM in response to holdregeby AlwaysLookin4Answers,Alright well - on my end, it's all cellular data causing this battery issue. My battery life seems very stable with ONLY wifi turned on and all cellular data turned off. So what does this mean? I have no clue. I get my replacement phone tomorrow but I'm actually a little disappointed because now I'm not so sure I have a messed up battery that a replacement can fix.. Really annoying if this is exactly the same experience I will have with the replacement. Wish me luck. Thanks for all the tips and advice guys. WOW I HAVE SPENT WAYYYYYY TOO MUCH TIME HERE LOL

Oct 10, 2012 8:27 PM in response to Handsfullby dmarwha,Yes from icloud, I've been tracking this thread since day 1 and I know people advise against it but frankly only reason I have stayed with apple for so long is so I can preserve txts and game data.
On my old iphone I did restore as new TWICE (after originally restoring from backup). It didn't help me.

Yep, I understand....not being able to restore from a backup is SEVERE/MEGA/MASSIVE FAIL on Apple's behalf. Either some phones have hardware issues.....or.....although I have no idea how....I've found that once you've restored to a backup, there is something that takes place that doesn't allow the phone to "go back" to it's original state. Meaning it cannot perform the same as a new phone fresh from Apple. I don't know why, but it's been proven many times here on the forum. It's the reason why I think it's detrimental to NOT restore to a backup (even though it sukks) as there seems no way to restore again and put it in a state where it would function like it would have prior to the backup restore. (hope this makes sense.....it's been a LONG day).
@alwayslookn
We all have spent WAY too much time here....it's enough to pizz off the Pope. Please update when you have results!!

Oct 11, 2012 1:05 AM in response to holdregeby WelshPilot,Hi Folks,
Recieved my iPhone 5 last week, nice looking device as all the Apple products!
The only flaw that I am having at the moment is the battery life on it. I have carried out all of the relevant switching off location services and closing apps running in the background, however I left my phone powered on and just at standby yesterday in work from 08:00 to 15:00 and the battery was down on 30%.
Any advice folks?

Oct 11, 2012 3:04 AM in response to holdregeby AlwaysLookin4Answers,ps.... my advice is CALL APPLE!!!! I completely understand coming to this forum to try to find a solution but the first thing you should do is CALL APPLE! I feel like maybe 1% of us have done that! If you want to see a change in this situation. Be persistent. And honestly if nothing is done in the next few days.... RETURN YOUR PHONES... Maybe you can buy it again when they fix the problem and releasea product that is suitable for every day use. You must make it happen.

Oct 11, 2012 5:22 AM in response to WelshPilotby John Mul,WelshPilot, there are a number of excellent obversations and fixes on this thread that work in some/most but not all cases. Its down to your situation. I personally think like many here that its a signal issue either phone set up requiring too much signal or a bug causing overuse/misuse of signal that ties into the set up and phone usage preferences/habits. What I think is relevant for you in the UK (I presume) is the carrier that you use how you set up your phone, how you use your phone and what modus of wireless signal you use (Blue Tooth (aka BT...lol): Wifi; Cell 2G; 3G; LTE and so on).
Thinking about that, have a read of the discussions which are long and see if any of it relates to your situation. I have a little time on my hands these days which Im using part of to researching Iphone 5 myself as I have ordered an Apple Iphone 5 and want to competantly set it up with push email and trouble shoot my new phone if it gives me problems. I would also remember that Apple offers tech support for the first 90 days (In Ireland for sure) and I presume UK too. I would log on to Apple UK and get the support number and run through the issues you have on the phone. As part of their 1st line diagnostics and trouble shooting protocols, I would think they will have some trouble shooting tests for you to do. This in my view would be a good step for you to take..
One final point, I think Apple is using crownsourcing to beta test the Iphone 5 and iOS6 for missed bugs, which is an accurate and effective process once brand loyalty holds out in the face of dissatisfied customers caught up in the post launch bugs/problems etc.. I would expect a very effective updating of iOS6 at some point in the future in a firmware update which will resolve much that has gone wrong with the Iphone, which for me seems to be mainly around battery (like Iphone 4) and also some 3rd party accessories which have interface problems with iOS6.
Hope this helps....
Best Regards
John

Oct 11, 2012 5:48 AM in response to Handsfullby Jameson!,Yet another observation on this issue....... When I got my 4s last year, there was the same battery issue, which was linked to restoring from a backup. Back then, I did do a Restore as New and sync.
With my iPhone 5, I restored from the backup of my 4s and have had no problems at all with battery life, after the first couple of days. Makes me wonder if the Restore from Backup problem relates only to those using phones prior to the 4s????? Or am I just that lucky?

Oct 11, 2012 5:48 AM in response to WelshPilotby AlwaysLookin4Answers,Sorry... I could've been nicer. We have all had to read through these forums to figure out what's up and what we could possibly to do band aid the situation. That's all I meant. It would benefit you to just read through. Sorry about that.

Oct 11, 2012 6:01 AM in response to holdregeby wolfemsw,Battery life on the 5 is significantly worse than the 4S. I believe LTE is the culprit. Everyone that I have talked to has the same problem. It's REALLY bad. Hope there is a fix for it.
