Oct 12, 2012 7:05 AM in response to Aviramyosefby Jameson!,Maybe a dumb question, but might provide some insight as well.
How many of you who struggling with your battery life, upgraded from a i4s? In fact, those of us who had the 4s went through this exact same problem when it was released. We were doing the restore-as-new thing, resetting, blah, blah, blah and eventually things seemed to settle out. I don't know if it was our tweaking, subsequent iOS updates or both.
Now, I have had almost no issues since upgrading to my i5 from the 4s (using a backup!) and am wondering if having solved my problems before, made the transition easier? However, if many of you are coming from a 4s and having issues, this is all a huge waste of typing!!!!

Im wondering if i should try restoring from an old iphone4 backup to see if that solves it.

Oct 12, 2012 7:18 AM in response to spyd4rby Handsfull,Spydr is onto something
@jameson
I came from a 2g to a 3G to a 3GS to a 4 to a 4s to a 5.
But as mattRsteward said above....I set up as a new phone so all former settings are moot, as they haven't been introduced into this phone....ever.

Oct 12, 2012 7:22 AM in response to Handsfullby spyd4r,does anyone have Netstat installed on..
a iPhone 4? iPhone 4 with iOS 5?
a iPhone 4S? iPhone 4S with iOS 5?
and can confirm if round trip times are worse/the same on their old phone compared to new?
edit: unfortunately this is my first iPhone so I have no baseline to compare too

Oct 12, 2012 7:39 AM in response to spyd4rby Phil Rogers,I don't know what a netstat is. Am i the only person on this forum who is just a guy and not a cellphone/software/nuclear engineer? Come on guys! We need this thing fixed by Apple...and it needs to be a consumer level device you can take out of the box and use. Not tweak and turn and aim.
This is getting dumb.
Sorry.

Oct 12, 2012 7:42 AM in response to Phil Rogersby Jameson!,They will fix it Phil. Just don't expect them to rush out a fix, because history shows that simply will not happen. My personal guess would be for 6.01 to show up around Nov 1.

Oct 12, 2012 7:45 AM in response to Jameson!by Phil Rogers,So what do you think I should do Jameson. Should I keep the apple store appointment i made for tomorrow, hoping to get another new phone (my third one), or should I wait for the software update? What would you do?

Oct 12, 2012 7:50 AM in response to Phil Rogersby Jameson!,Given all the pain you are enduring, I would make them replace it. The more they have to suffer, the more importance they will put of a true fix. Every little bit helps!!!

Oct 12, 2012 7:53 AM in response to Phil Rogersby spyd4r,i personally believe that the hardware replacements apple is providing is strictly to make you feel like they "have" a solution. they know it won't fix you issue, but it makes you believe that they *are* doing something at this time.
You have two options basically.
1) Live with it and wait for an update
2) Return the phone and get your money back
Giving you replacement phones keeps you with the first option and keeps you as a customer until they have a fix.
it's just mindless busy work at this time.
edit: i also want to note, making them replace your phone atleast makes sure they know there is a problem.. if we all just sat here and did nothing, they wouldn't know anything was wrong.

Oct 12, 2012 7:53 AM in response to spyd4rby Phil Rogers,That's rather expensive busy work on their part! I can' t believe they would do that! Those handsets are not free.
-
Oct 12, 2012 7:53 AM in response to Phil Rogersby Keja3600,Exactly,sonstop with all the possible fixes, you're just encouraging apple not to do anything.
Its real simple.either they update ios and fix it,or they give us all new phones!!!
If they dont this will be a complete humiliation for apple !!!

Oct 12, 2012 7:54 AM in response to Phil Rogersby spyd4r,internally costs are pretty low compared to what we pay, and they will just become replacement phones for RMA devices in the future anyways.. they aren't losing tons of money by doing this.
