Q: iPhone 5 battery life is way worse than iPhone 4

I just got an iphone 5 and I restored a backup from my iPhone 4 so I have the same settings. But the iphone 5 drains way faster than my two year old very well used iPhone 4 which is running 5.1.1. Is it because of IOS 6? Just leaving it sitting overnight lost about half the battery. My iPhone 4 hardly uses any battery while it sits overnight.

Or do I have a bad battery on my new phone?

    I can actually see my battery drop.  A single email will sap it by one percent.  Have you had to turn anything off or dim your screen or do anything else to see that improvement?

    The issue that I have (besides the obvious) is cellular data usage. What is constantly being sent/received? I have mail set to FETCH 30 MINS on both my email accounts, etc.

    So what is this? This concerns me because its no longer about the battery(I mean, it is obviously) but why is my data being used when I'm not using data?! I deleted my I cloud account last night and that seemed to have stopped it but, I need my iCloud account!!! Is that what's doing it? Why it is a constant increase of numbers in cellular data usage received and sent... While I'm not doing anything on the phone.? Thanks

    Doesn't the phone back up to iCloud?   I believe when you restore or reset the phone, a new full backup will occur.   This may cause some much of the data usage AND battery problems!   JMHO......

    Thanks Jameson! Gonna see how this plays out. Truth is, I haven't given the phone a moment to breathe without adjusting and restoring etc etc etc.. So what you're saying (and have BEEN saying) makes sense. Hope it works!

    Guys,  Sorry, but I don't buy that idea.  If you remember my first numbers I was getting (and posted in the thread-I'm too lazy to go look which page) after I got my new replacement phone at the Apple store......it was 12 hours usage and 17 hours standby.  I told everyone I found a solution....a new phone.    Every single stat I received from this phone....every day since.....has been the SAME performance numbers (within minutes of each other).....so I don't think the operating system has some built in 'self-adjusting' feature/algorithm in it - LOL

    Here's yesterdays:

    Tomorrow's will look like this too, anyone want to bet against it??

    Something DID happen after the first discharge cycle......it began to run the way it was designed to.....terribly.

    Lol ****. Its almost a month guys. Who is getting a refund?? I wouldn't even dare downgrade! You know what they do!! Everything gets updated in a way that old phones/computers become unusable and they literally force you to buy new ones. Samsung Galaxy? Just a few more days of this. I think it's all I can take!! LOL

    Handsful : what's the deal with cellular data roaming? Do we want that on or off? Does it have any effect?

    @yozhbk

    I can imagine.  That's all I want to do is 'imagine'.  That's why I have always bought iPhone's....because I never had to worry about battery life being dismal.  I never had to worry about my processor crashing and the battery needing to be pulled (ala blackberry).  No nonsense involved trying to get it to work......until now.

    Leave roaming off unless you travel to locations where your provider doesn't have service and you need to recieve data at all times.

    thanks handsfull! last question for the day lol - - when i have 4g/lte on, and I go to Cellular Usage / Cellular Network Data... why do the numbers go up without anything happening on the phone? All apps are closed, Mail is all set to manual.  What is doing this?  Everytime I click on cellular usage the numbers go up. I don't understand..

    Ha....neither do I.  I suspect Apple does.....and that's why they are calling people to run battery log profiles....
