Oct 28, 2012 1:50 PM in response to HSUEA001by AlwaysLookin4Answers,I wouldn't jump so fast to say that she's doing something wrong... There is a problem, which is why most of us are here......... My battery looks just like hers.. I have everything that makes an iPhone an iPhone turned off. I don't even have iCloud on here..... We aren't doing anything wrong my friend. It needs to be fixed. This is my third replacement. All the same.

Oct 28, 2012 2:07 PM in response to HSUEA001by AlwaysLookin4Answers,That's what I'm saying though! She isn't doing anything wrong... That's how bad a lot of our batteries are even with everything that makes this phone great, shut off. I'm glad you're having decent battery life but most of us are not... And we are not doing anything "wrong". That is what I'm saying.

Oct 28, 2012 2:35 PM in response to holdregeby Keja3600,hey guys it's he,not she,its a nickname :d.but its true,we're not doing anything wrong. im not doing anything i didnt do with my 3 previous phones (3G,4 and 4s) so i know what i can expect from an iphone.and its not this. im seriously tired of people saying its our fault!!!! ITS NOT.believe me i love apple products,i've been using them for more then 10 years and i've always been happy with it.but i am disgusted now.if they dont fix this soon it will be my last iphone ever.and i'm quite certain a lot of people share my opinion

Oct 28, 2012 3:26 PM in response to HSUEA001by HwyHawk1976,I hate 2 burst your bubble, Carat aint hittin on Sshhhiiitt.. The new version (updated yesterday) of Battery Doctor is way better. Carat inspects/ diagnosis whats going on but u have 2 be a computer/ phone tech 2 understand what they r talkin bout. Battery Doctor has the same function (minus the "my battery is better than 53% of the ppl using the app) but in "common" terms, easy 2 understand..

Oct 28, 2012 4:56 PM in response to SingleMaltby stkmks,Hey everyone, I've only gotten around to debugging the battery life problem later as i had to wait for local stock availalability here in Aus.. My experiences with battery life went from its fine -> it definitely drains faster -> thats shockingly bad.
I have gotten to the point where battery life is draining at 1% per 10 mins, which is better than the 2-3% it used to be.
The short solution is in addition to the standard battery tweaks (push, notifications, locations etc), i've disabled 4g, and not gone near i cloud. I did a DFU restore and did NOT connect it to icloud.. there seems to be a difference (not scientifically sure) between icloud connected and all the options disabled and icloud unknown.
I have associated appleid's with the store and imessage, they can work fine without icloud.
So here's a more fuller post install that i documented, as i've been saying to a good friend who's a fellow apple user.. this is like windows vista.. you have to do extensive post install to get it to get reasonably close performance to the version before. Id also say that the inclusion of os features that are self serving to apple rather than the end user is technically bloat (look at all the advertising related settings) but i get in trouble for mentioning that Also, alot of these settings are buried 3 to 4 dialogs in, which is just like post install setup for xp/vista... Make what you will. I didn't know about the 3rd place to disable push email until reading this thread! Nasty.
I've gotten good life from this so far, hope it lasts, hope it helps you! I did a DFU restore then did the following steps. My mac is set to icloud, and i do a local sync from itunes to the phone to get the contacts. I also have transferred purchases to my local itunes to save the redownload of apps.
Bluetooth -> Off
Clear notification center from all save phone and messages
General -> About -> Advertising -> Limit Ad Tracking -> ON
General -> About -> Diagnostics & Usage -> DON’T SEND
General -> Usage -> Battery Percentage -> ON (optional)
General -> Cellular -> Enable LTE -> OFF
General -> Cellular -> Use Cellular Data for FaceTime -> OFF
General -> Cellular -> Use Cellular Data for Passbook Updates -> OFF
General -> Cellular -> Use Cellular Data for Reading List -> OFF
Brightness & Wallpaper -> SLIDER TO 50%
Brightness & Wallpaper -> Auto Brightness -> OFF
Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Call Network Search -> OFF
Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Compass Calibration -> OFF
Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Diagnostics and Usage -> OFF
Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Genius for Apps -> OFF
Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Location Based IAds -> OFF
Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Setting Time Zone -> OFF
Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Traffic -> OFF
Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Status Bar Icon -> ON
Icloud not set up. Must be a login prompt.
Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Fetch New Data -> Push -> OFF
Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Fetch New Data -> Advanced -> [ACCOUNT] -> MANUAL
*there may be an additional option here for fetch with icloud, set that to manual also.
Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Gmail -> Archive Messages -> OFF (this is function not perf)
*there are a whole bunch of settings to configure in “Messages” if icloud is enabled. Without icloud, the defaults are fine.
*when icloud is enabled, “Itunes and App Stores” requires Automatic Downloads disabled. Without icloud the default settings are fine.
Music -> Home Sharing -> ADD HOME SHARING APPLE ID
*when icloud is enabled, “Photos and Camera” requires My Photo Stream disabled. Without icloud the default settings are fine.

Oct 28, 2012 5:38 PM in response to stkmksby iphone5rocks,stkmks,
Interesting list, but no icloud means no find my iphone. Do you think that just having find my iphone on drains the battery?
Isn't doing so much to your phone sort of like buying a Ferrari and then having someone install a governor on it so it can only go 30 mph and then only driving it in reverse!

Oct 28, 2012 5:50 PM in response to Marc Sillby Marc Sill,Well ... it took me a bit ... but I worked out the kinks and all is well again.
In short.
I erased all content and settings ... then restored it from three days ago (four days now) before the issues started.
THEN ... (since that did not help the battery life) ...
I then Reset All Settings.
Then went back and set all my settings to what I had.
The ONLY think I have different than what I normally have is I don't have Siri turned on.
My phone has now been on all day (since 9:00 a.m.) and it's been 12 hours and it now shows 82%.
Not bad since the past three days have been a tripple death and recharge experience.
Life was only 4.5 hours.
So ... for whatever reason ... the Rest All Settings seemed to work.
Hope this works for some of you out there as well.
