Nov 1, 2012 4:15 PM in response to holdregeby IAmBatmanL0000l,My iPhone 5 used 34% of a full charge last night while I was asleep. Although I didn't check my usage. I normally have to charge my phone 2 or 3 times a day, never had this problem with my iPhone 4. I think I can safely say that I am never buying an iPhone again.
Please excuse my name, don't know why it's what it is, or how to change it...

Nov 1, 2012 5:19 PM in response to holdregeby LEECK78,Whats wrong with apple???? I just realized that besides battery issue, i'm having some data usage issue as well.. My data usage rockets ever since i got my iphone5, 800mb in less than a week!! Ridiculous high!! Never exceeded 1gb in a month with my 3gs in the past.. I had turned off whatever apps or settings that required data transmission.!! What the hack is going on???

Nov 1, 2012 7:06 PM in response to holdregeby godzilabob,My battery is up to 6+ hours/charge after making adjustments, but i too have seen my data usage go up 10 fold, literally. After talking to verizon they told me it was because LTE/4g is so much faster. *** does that have to do with my consumption?!!!
I think part of my problem is my phone continues to drop my wifi several times a day. Sometimes several times an hour...

Nov 1, 2012 7:15 PM in response to godzilabobby AlwaysLookin4Answers,Even on Ios 6.0.1 - icloud will NOT stop sending and recieving data every second. It completely stops the minute you delete icloud account from your phone... Until then, data is just FLOWING at all times. It was like that before this update, and it's still like that. I can't believe that wasn't fixed.

Nov 1, 2012 8:25 PM in response to AlwaysLookin4Answersby Handsfull,Hey fellas....I thought I'd check in after hearing about the update....it appears it's not looking so good. Not trying to stoke anyone up but I'd advise you to sell the 5 while it's hot (and fetching top dollar) and move back to the 4s, I'm loving my google maps and 2 day battery life (with consistent/moderate usage).....

Nov 1, 2012 8:33 PM in response to AlwaysLookin4Answersby HwyHawk1976,Yo.. Have u tried turning the safari option off & deleting all bookmarks??? Also, any options u have on in icloud and ur mail accounts will clash 4 some reason and cause problems.. For ex. Contacts, reminders, notes. I only use mail with my yahoo account and only contact, photo stream, & find my phone on in icloud. Also u might wana go to locations> system services> turn cell network search off...

Nov 1, 2012 9:05 PM in response to HwyHawk1976by AlwaysLookin4Answers,At this point.. I think most of us have tried every possible thing to try. It's out of our hands. And now, out of mine! Take care peeps. Hope you all find a phone that matches your needs.
Hands full- If only I could have 5.1.1 back on my iPhone 4! I'd be very content with that... But that's not an option soooo.. Again, they stick it to ya ;) take care buddy

iOS 6.0.1 Test Results So Far
1) I can confirm "Exchange Calender" issue has now seem to have been resolved with the new iOS 6.0.1, had it on "push" all morning and had some big schedule updates during that time and no negative battery issues to report of! Calender updated fine.
2) LTE / 3G Switching issue seems to have also reduced a bit.
More on this later!

Nov 2, 2012 1:06 AM in response to holdregeby KéKé,Judging from my one day test, my battery is still as sh*tty as it was before. And Apple still hasn't recognised the situation. We've been had.
Fool me once shame on me... Once I break this phone, I'm not going back to Apple. They lied to me. Up to 8 hours on LTE? 10 on Wifi? Try 5 LTE and 7 on WIFI.
Jerks.

Nov 2, 2012 2:51 AM in response to KéKéby Player8,I've been logging my battery usage data and found that the lower end power usage of LTE is similar to 3G, so in optimal signal conditions you wouldn't notice too much difference in power usage (Assuming you went to the same number of web pages and spent the same time reading each page).
It's when the LTE signal drops below optimal is when power usage increases significantly, I've seen a peak power usage from LTE that was 60% more than 3G before iOS 6.0.1. I haven't logged the improvements yet but initial tests show a speed increase for in LTE for the same signal strength, this should translate into better battery life if you are consuming text rather than pure data when surfing the net.
7 solid hours of LTE usage is rather good!
To allow an apples to apples (no pun intended), I've included below how apple arrive at their battery usage estimations.

Internet Use over LTE Tests
Testing conducted by Apple in August 2012 using preproduction iPhone 5 units and software, on both GSM and CDMA carrier networks. Internet over LTE tests were conducted over an LTE network using a dedicated web server. iPhone 5 browsed snapshot versions of 20 popular web pages and received mail once an hour. All settings were default except: The Wi-Fi feature Ask to Join Networks and Auto-Brightness were turned off.
