Nov 11, 2012 9:14 AM in response to holdregeby LEECK78,Player8, what do you meant by set up correctly? As I mentioned in my previous thread, I had turned off every single features that I can find on the phone including apps, LTE.
The only thing I left was 3G and If I'm gona turn off 3G then what's the point buying a smart phone.
DFU, setup as new phone, factory reset over and over again but doesn't seems work for me.
Battery doesn't get very hot but luke warn after some browsing or whatever activities.
Thus, I pressume that this is normal for a smart phone.

Nov 11, 2012 9:29 AM in response to Keja3600by Player8,This really depends on the usage that was occurring, on each phone.
Assuming you managed to perform similar type of usage (email, surfing, phone calls etc) on each phone then no it's not okay. From day one I expect similar battery life between the iPhone 5 and 4. I'm getting this without a crippled phone, setup is on page 144 if your interested.
If you want assistance to try to find your particular battery issues my questions are on top og page 156..

Nov 11, 2012 9:49 AM in response to Player8by LEECK78,First of all is it a real issue?

Ans: Nope but luke warm.

Ans: Yes but nothing unusual found, had already deleted apps that crashes frequency as well.
What have you tried?

Ans: Long out as I don't use iCoud.

now you can use all kinds of solutions but bottomline is this : IT IS TERRIBLE !!
i pay a premium price because i expect a premium phone.700€ and it has bullsh*t battery life?
actually much worse than my ip4?? when i saw those numbers i was shocked!!and once again, why arent there any tech magazines or major tech blogs destroying the iphone5????? big fat "shut-up" cheques maybe??

Keja is correct, only Apple can fix this as its a POWER MANAGEMENT issue, but at what cost, lower quality/dropped calls?
The tech sites are not up in arms because there own testing shows expected battery life. This issue isn't as wide spread as some on this board think (or want it to be). It really boils down to the quality of the cellular signal available to each user. Low power/poor quality results in the phone expending more energy to maintain the same level of perfomance as it would with better signal strengh.
Best solution right now is to invest in a charger and keep the phone plugged in when possible, it's better for the battery anyway.

I've refrained from playing Asphalt or any other graphic intensive games out of fear for this very reason. Apple conventiently doesn't mention any expected battery life for games, but I'm not surprised the new quad core graphics chip is a battery hog. Not sure anything can be done for that though.

Nov 11, 2012 10:16 AM in response to Echo Stationby vrs626,I'm not buying your reasoning. I work in Downtown DC and have excellent signal quality on both LTE and 3G. Even with a strong signal I'm burning battery at a rate of 2% a minute.

Nov 11, 2012 10:43 AM in response to vrs626by Echo Station,Signals are measured on a 5 point scale for both strength and quality. Phones only show the one related to strength.

Nov 11, 2012 11:20 AM in response to holdregeby AlwaysLookin4Answers,This is certainly not a fix of any kind but I did want to let the desperate folks know, who will do whatever it takes to get better battery life.
I saw something from safari was constantly running in the backround the entire time the phone was in use even if safari had been closed. I don't have iCloud or anything set up. I have the very very minimum. I decided to restrict safari and use chrome instead. I also decided to delete Facebook as I saw the minute I opened that app battery started draining so fast. So I got rid of safari and everything attached to that (cleared all that data) I did a hard reset. My battery life seems a lot better now. With wifi I dropped ten percent in 1 hr 21 mins straight heavy usage. On 4G(is it really 3G? I don't even know) I am dropping a percent every 5 Mins. That's a wholllleee lot better than a percent every 1-2 minutes. As I said this isn't news, but I wanted to let you know my experience. Hope this keeps up!

Nov 11, 2012 1:43 PM in response to AlwaysLookin4Answersby Zachery2005,So After getting IOS6 on both my our "IPhone 4" s my wife and I have seen the Batter only get 1/2 the life it once had with IOS5. After IOS6.1 and not change the the batter we upgraded both to the IPhone 5.
Its been two days running and we both see the batter life still *****.
It was fully charged when i got out of the bed, 8:30am made one Phone call for 10min, send 15-20 text messages and have 3 bars of service. by 4:00 it was at 10% Battery life.
Could it be more of ICloud thats doing it? Has anyone tested Turning off ICloud for a few days to see if its anybetter?
The Only ICloud settings I like it Sync of Photos, FindIphone, Calendars and Reminders -
Nov 11, 2012 3:51 PM in response to holdregeby LEECK78,For sure there are some defect battery floating around in the market as the manufacturers trying hard to meet deadlines. And in order to do so, they will need to loosen up their quality control or whichever that can improve output.
Mass production is always the hardest in terms of QC.

Nov 11, 2012 4:29 PM in response to LEECK78by Zachery2005,I can understand bard hardware from time to time.
I dont think this is a hardware problem, I think its something with software or config of something in the IOS6.
I know of 5 people with a 4 or 4s that also have battery problem after IOS 6.. I was hoping IP5 would not have this problem. For the fact both my wife and I have this problem... I know it cant be a hardware problem.
I have seen other report of having battery problems with IOS6 and and Apple swaped out the phone, and still had problems with new hardware.
