Oct 4, 2012 8:48 AM in response to Andy Goundryby fishball, you should definitely bring it back to apple. 1% per hour might not be that obvious but 22% per hour is insane man.

What's the definition of 'standby' here? Is it simply a matter of hitting the power button once or does it mean having everything (features, notifications, sounds, apps) off as well?
Either way, 1% per hour is pretty much on the high end. Having said that, when my phone (the 4 & 5) are fresh off the charger, they stay at 100% for a good 3-4 hours (when usage is low).

Oct 4, 2012 8:58 AM in response to fishballby Andy Goundry,Right then!
Someone here (thanks to you) recommended that i check the data usage. I reset the data usage today at 14:19 and have had the devide on standby until 16:52.
During that time, the device has downloaded 1.4 GB of data and uploaded 82.2 MB! I have no idea what it's sending or receiving.
This makes me change my mind a bit. Maybe the advice "just wait and it'll settle down" might in fact be the perfect advice! Maybe the thing just does need some time to settle down! Dunno, but that's a lot of data in the background (thankfully i have unlimited data).

Oct 4, 2012 9:06 AM in response to SingleMaltby fishball, when i said "standby" i mean the screen is off the whole time. i unplugged when it was fully charged and left it there for a good 10 hours, again screen was off the whole time. woke up next morning and the battery level was down at 90%. If Apple proclaimed 225 hrs of standby time is measured with everything set to off(no radio no wifi no bluetooth etc) then what is the point of it?

Oct 4, 2012 9:17 AM in response to Andy Goundryby SingleMalt,@Andy, that's interesting. Obviously something's chugging away in the background! Just thinking out loud here, I wonder if it would make a difference if you closed down the apps. Again, to reiterate, not the fetaures like Location, Notifications, Push etc, but just the apps by double clicking the Home button.

Oct 4, 2012 9:20 AM in response to SingleMaltby Andy Goundry,I'm not supposed to touch anything, but i think i'll give this a go. Why not
Here goes...
Nope, that didn't help. I can flick between the Usage screen and the Cellular Usage screen and it goes up 0.3MB every time i reneter re-enter the Cellular Usage screen (that's 0.3MB about every 1 second)

Oct 4, 2012 9:23 AM in response to fishballby SingleMalt,@fishball, you're right, there would be little point in putting everything off, but just wanted to see how you were putting the phone in standby. It just makes more sense if we are all doing roughly the same thing in order to meaningfully compare our individual experiences.

Oct 4, 2012 9:39 AM in response to vrs626by ebrown711,Well yesterday I had 8 hours 27 minutes of usage and 18 hours 19 minutes of standby before putting my phone on the charger with 13% battery remaining. This is by far the best I have out of the phone to date. Everything was on except push mail. I have cycle charged my battery every day for the past week and that seems to have done the trick for me. I hope everyone else can get rid of their problems as I did. By the way as I type this I am on 53 minutes usage and 8 hours 13 minutes standby. My battery is at 93%

Oct 4, 2012 9:40 AM in response to Andy Goundryby SingleMalt,I'm not sure if that's a good benchmark test though. Ideally you want to compare like for like which would mean putting it on standby for the 2h33m like you did before BUT with the apps closed down. Ok, perhaps you dont want to wait that long so how about say 30 minutes, and then check the usage in that period and compare with your previous results. Ofcourse, this might muck up your Apple test...!

Oct 4, 2012 9:44 AM in response to ebrown711by vrs626,Is that over LTE or wifi? And how much of that is useage that requires data?

Just out of curiosity, how was the battery performing when you first used it before starting the the week long charging cycle?

Oct 4, 2012 9:54 AM in response to SingleMaltby Blakeanator,I'm getting similar battery results as Andy but my data usages shows no additional outgoing data at all...maybe there are multiple battery glitches in iOS 6?

Oct 4, 2012 9:58 AM in response to holdregeby fishball, btw has anyone noticed the iphone 5 recharges really fast. i know the iphone fast-charges to 80% and then slows down when approaching 100%.do you think the battery drain issue also causes or have impacts on the amount of time it takes to recharge? my iphone 5 takes about 1 and a half hr to fully charge and there's no sign of any slow down from the 80% point. anyway i m just curious.
