    how does connecting it to a computer mess anything up? why would you need a replacement phone to acheive this, couldn't you just DFU it and not restore from backup and be in the same state?

    Now this is where you showing your emotional strategy flaws.    Simple........

    3:15 standby and still at 100% with all features on as noted above.

    @Handsfull Sorry if it has been answered but 1 Did you get yours replaced through phone/online support or through in store support (genius)? 2 Did you recieve white/brown box or factory sealed new? Thanks in advance for all your help here ive been following for a while now.

    I know I've spent plenty of time troubleshooting this issue (got it sept 21) and I feel the only option that will work and make me happy is if apple contacted me and told me they were going to swap me out a brand new phone that way its not some lucky raffle pick at an apple store and have the best chance at an advertised iphone 5.

    Just throwing my latest usage out there...

    I've had my replacement phone for almost a week now. I think it's worse than the original. :-/ I'm getting 4 hours max no matter what I do. LTE is off, as I don't live in an LTE area. No difference. I've used it with both wifi on and off. No difference.

    The applecare tech I had been dealing with basically just gave me a sorry. Lol He sees no point in replacing it again, which I tend to agree with. I've already wasted a lot ot time on now 2 phones. He really just suggested waiting to see if the engineers come up with a fix based on the battery logs that they have been collecting but he sees no fix coming right away.

    I cannot and will not get a replacement and then sync no info to it like some are suggesting here now? I see absolutely no point in that. I want my stuff on my phone and I want to use it. So I will wait as I don't want to return the phone and get something entirely different. And I've already sold my 4S so I can't go back to that!

    And right now after charging it all night I'm at 87% with 35 minutes of usage...

    I have to admit it's really frustrating to me to not have the lightning to 30 pin adapters. I'm use to always being able to charge my phone in my car. I think it would be less noticeable to me if I could at least do that like I"m use to...

    Emotional strategy flaw??

    I love Jameson whiskey too, but you may be drinking a little too much. LOL

    Thanks, but you misunderstood my point.

    I'll try and describe with 3 scenarios:

    1. If the issue is hardware

    No matter what you restore from, there won't be an issue if the hardware is fine. It'll just work. The same will be true if the hardware is bad - no matter what steps you follow, the device will still have poor battery life.

    2. If the issue is software

    We'll all be able to restore our current devices from IPSW (with no restore from backup of course) and it'll be fine. If not, we're assuming that either the IPSW downloaded from the apple server has a bug in it, OR that a restore from IPSW (with no restore from backup) does not fully remove the data restored from our iPhone 4 backup. tbh, i've no idea, but i did assume a restore from IPSW removed all personal data (much like a fresh OS X installation).

    3. If the issues is a mixture of software and hardware

    I can't think of a scenario that makes sense here...

    You refuse to consider the fact that constant tinkering, restoring, resetting, etc, MAY be causing some background processes to run and draw down the battery.......    YES, emotional strategy.

    Again, it has worked on two similar but different models for me.   Just keep swapping phones and tinkering as you have been, wishfully hoping for different results.

    @handsfull

    I did not restore anything. It was set up as new. As with the previous 3 devices

    This is getting out of hand now. Corrupted the phone by connecting to my computer!

    If anything the phone has corrupted my patience by being rubbish.

    So, no syncing means no music, or photos, or videos, or calendars for that matter.

    Sounds awesome mate. Ffs.

    @mrbrightside

    If you brought the phone home and did the "ace" method....you possibly already corrupted it.  WHEN YOU GET A NEW PHONE....DO NOT RESTORE IT. PERIOD. Setup as a new phone and do not sync it.

  • Andy Goundry Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

    I am so baffled by the statement "already corrupted it"

    As an engineer myself, it just makes no sense. I'm sure there is something i must be missing here, but how can software corrupt hardware in the way that's being described here? I am rather baffled

  • mrbr1ghtside Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

    LOL. My thoughts exactly!

    I put some petrol in my car today too. Do you think it may have broken the engine?

    Water in the kettle looks a bit funny too. Best keep it dry for best results..

  • spyd4r Level 1 Level 1 (40 points)

    it's dark in the room, but if i turn the lightbulb on it may burnout.. better stay in the dark.

  • mrbr1ghtside Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

    @handsfull

    Btw

    I set up my latest phone as new device without syncing for the first few hours after receiving it.

    Drainage was appalling so from experience -not to mention logic- I completely disagree with what you are saying.

  • spyd4r Level 1 Level 1 (40 points)

    I wonder why this thread hasn't made it to the front page of macrumors or engadget.. we could use some more attention i think.
