Q: iPhone 5 battery life is way worse than iPhone 4

I just got an iphone 5 and I restored a backup from my iPhone 4 so I have the same settings. But the iphone 5 drains way faster than my two year old very well used iPhone 4 which is running 5.1.1. Is it because of IOS 6? Just leaving it sitting overnight lost about half the battery. My iPhone 4 hardly uses any battery while it sits overnight.

Or do I have a bad battery on my new phone?

    I've just confirmed with the Genius here in Seattle area and they said while it's not a brand new iPhone 5 in a retail box, it is a brand new one that comes without any accessories.  So it's not a "refurb", but a new iPhone.

    And you believe that?   I'm betting it's more likely an exchange from someone else, who was complaining.........

    Another day another head scratcher from the iPhone 5 land... I unplugged my iPhone yesterday night around 11 after a complete charge. Now just 19 hours later it shows 20+ hours stand by and 8 hours useage.... How can that be possible????

    @atlantis

    That IMO, is a signifier of a bad phone = Showing a pattern of usage when the phone is in standby.  This is the first thing I've found when I started searching for a problem.  Your phone needs to be replaced.

    @yuni

    When I received my replacement phone, it came in a white thin cardboard box approximately the size of the iPhone itself.  Apple hasn't had time to churn out refurbs yet, although I know some stores are low/empty on replacements.

    Note: when I recieved my First iPhone (yeah, the bad one) direct from ATT.....the cellular usage was at 7 days 12 hours.  That was VERY odd....the phone still looked new, but after a restore all that data should be cleared at the factory - so it makes me wonder if I received a R&D phone from them.

    I was afraid of that ... My first one was doing the same, so once this gets replaced it will be my third phone... almost tempted to ask for a refund and be done with it.

    Alright.. So my iPhone 4 (wifi only/icloud set up) is now at 86% usage: 1 Hour 15 Mins / Standby: 1 Day 17 hours. The percentage dropped 1% in about 10 minutes of heavy web browsing. Hmmmmmmmmm

    Is there an active SIM Card in the i5?   If so, I don't believe you can shut cellular off entirely, just cellular data.   The cellular radio would still be operating.   At least that's the way my AT&T i5 works.   I can shut down cellular data and toggle LTE, but the 3G radio for voice calls is always on..........
