Q: iPhone 5 battery life is way worse than iPhone 4

I just got an iphone 5 and I restored a backup from my iPhone 4 so I have the same settings. But the iphone 5 drains way faster than my two year old very well used iPhone 4 which is running 5.1.1. Is it because of IOS 6? Just leaving it sitting overnight lost about half the battery. My iPhone 4 hardly uses any battery while it sits overnight.

Or do I have a bad battery on my new phone?

if that's what you think would be the best solution, I posted a while back I checked my iPhone 5 settings under general -> Diagnostics & Usage -> Don't Send mine were set to "Automatically Send" I see a huge improvement it's working now since Sept 26th give it a shot!!!

Nobody wants to hear my advice.......

Set up the phone as you want to use it and stop fiddling with restores, resets, etc., for a few days.

If that doesn't fix it, toss a coin.   You can wait a few weeks (my guess) for 6.01 or take the new phone.   I'm guessing that the new phone will not change anything for you, but it might make you "feel better".....   ;-)

So started the day at 100% around 10am now at 3:15pm with about 2 hours of usage I'm at 70%. Assuming so I would get roughly around 6-7 hours of battery at the end of the day.

Sorry, but the phone is only rated for 7-8 hours of use, so if you're on track for 6-7 hours, you are way better than many!   Maybe you need to rethink your expectations........

    Well everyone.  Bad news.

Some days you get the lion, some days the lion gets you.  Today, I feel like I'm being chewed on - LOL.  No sooner I'm talking about how well the phone is working, posting my wonderful battery stats on page 47 and today I'm at 2.30 hours usage and 3.40 hours standby with 48% battery life.  This is with heavier cellular data usage (web), but as of the last 45 minutes...I've just watched the battery life drop 1% every 2-3 minutes with just the screen on (nothing else running, no Bluetooth, etc).

I just called Apple back again (they called me for more info earlier yesterday), and I am now running an Apple installed profile for battery life logging.  They will be monitoring my phone usage for the next 48 hours, and I will be sending logs back to them.

So, at this point, who knows.  My friends with Verizon and Sprint aren't having an issue with theirs. My friend with iOS6 on his iPhone 4S isn't having issues.  My ATT iPhone 5 is.  Is it iOS or hardware?  I still can't say for certain, although I was swaying towards hardware.....hmmm

Alright People....This is 100% my last time to fix this issue on my own. I'm getting a new iphone later this week but i wanted to test this to see what happens... So far it's looking good...I'll update you, of course

    IPHONE 5

*Delete ISPW File in "library/itunes/iphone software updates

*SIGN OUT OF YOUR ITUNES ACCOUNT ON YOUR COMPUTER

*Plug your phone into the computer

*Put the phone in DFU mode

    *Click RESTORE

*The software will begin to download

*As soon as the software is all installed and the phone turns on and pops back up in itunes - disconnect it immediately. Do not click on "set up as new phone" or "restore from back up" on your computer. Just disconnect the phone.

*Set up your phone like you would out of the box.  Your icloud username will not be there.  It'll be as if it's a brand new phone.

*Set up as new / Do not use any backups.

*Download all your apps manually / your paid apps are in the PURCHASED section of Apps.

*Turn on icloud (personally i have "Safari and passbook switched to OFF"

Honestly... it's looking really good. I'll update you in an hour and let you know if this is worth doing but for all the desperate people out there - go for it.
