Reminders App: badge icon wrong count.

The badge icon that displays the number of reminder alerts is a welcome addition for me in iOS 6. However, I'm somewhat annoyed that it always seems to be incorrect. After a new reminder alert takes place in notification centre, you would expect the badge icon to update, but it doesn't. Opening the App and closing it does nothing either. The only way to update the count, is to re-boot the iPhone. Can anyone tell me how I can submit a bug report for this? Many thanks!

It seems that this update "hid" any previously created lists that were local to the device.

Here is how to fix your badges.

Open Reminders

In the search box type a single letter - example C

You will see a list of all your reminders, even the hidden ones, that have that letter as the first letter of any of their words.

Any uncompleted ones should be on top.

Either mark them as Completed or if they are still pending, move them to a new list.

You may have to repeat this with several different letters until you find your task(s) that are causing the badge icon to be wrong.

This worked for me. Thanks Kindredlaugh. I had a phantom "1" alert showing on my reminders icon/badge but had no reminders showing in the reminder list. I worked my way through the alphabet using search as you suggested and found the hidden reminder that was coming in from my work Outlook Exchange. The reminder didn't have a due date (reminder date), so I gave it a date and then it magically appeared in the list.

I have no reminders, either visible or hidden, but I still have the phantom "1" badge. I'd be ok with deactivating the Reminder function since it has the bogus count and this bizarre 'hidden reminder' problem. Reminders should be explicit or at least visible. Truly disappointing as it appears to have no resolution I can find.

The problem appears in iOS6 on my 4S and my iPad2.

Hi, I wanna share my experience with the wrong badge count.

I had all the task completed but even deleting from Reminders I had number 1 on badge stuck on the App. I had it for months since yesterday when I could reset the counter, here what I did.

1) Initially Reminders was synced with iCloud;

2) In Settings I set up "All Reminders" the Sync;

3) I turned off the syncing on iCloud (Settings Menu);

4) I launched the Reminders app and immediately in the Today I saw the very old task (hidden until that);

5) I deleted the hidden task and the wrong badge disappeared immediately;

6) I turned on the sync with iCloud and now it works flawlessy.

I don't know if it can help but I hope so.

I see that behavior for apps that require iOS 7. I'm still on iOS 6 and when going to Purchased -> All there is an Update button for apps that have an update available. When I tap the button the App Store suggests to install the last compatible version of the app.

Possible solutions:

  1. Ignore the badge
  2. Delete all apps that have updates which require iOS 7
  3. Update your device to iOS 7 so the app-updates will install

The most hassle-free solution is 1.

This message is off topic - it's about the app store badge icon
