Screen Saver on 10.8.2 Fails to Activate

Hi all, i've the same problem on my macbook pro 2008 since i've update to Moutain Lion.

Both the screensaver and monitor sleet do not start. I've noticed that if i open system settings and change some values in screensaver and energy saver too, some time it work again since i reboot.

I use Lion again, and the problem is solved,

if there is a fix I go back to ML

Hey Guys if its any consolation My Developer Copy 10.8.3 does not have any of these issues it should be released in week or so hope this helps..

Good to hear.... Did you have the problem with 10.8.2? Not sure if everyone with 10.8.2 has this problem, or just certain configurations.

I certainly hope that 10.8.3 does solve the problem. My family forgets to use the hot corners so a lot of the time the screensaver is not on. I should not be necessary to use hot corners or restart in order for the screensaver to work.

Yes I had all the same issues listed here and in my previous post listed below mine had been working with the adjustments I made for 3 + months now.

To all I tried the fix above logged in to another user that I allready had made a while back changed the settings in that user account and logged out opened the other user and after one min the screensaver started working again and has been working for the last 5 hrs. So I tried a restart logged in and it is still working..the only other change I made was in Energy Saver preferences was display sleep from never to 15 min.. ALL IS WELL hope this helps Jim P

I've not read all the other posts, but here's what's 'working" for me. In the screen saver sysytem prefs, there's a Hot Corners button in the lower right corner. I set Start Screensaver for two corners and so when I walk away from my MacMini for awhile, I have to remember to push mousie to one of these corners.

That is the only thing that is working for me too. But my family forgets to use the Hot Corners. I hope the soon coming update fixes the problem.

Interesting that since I quit using Outlook for email late yesterday the screensaver has been activating as it should. I don't know why it made a difference as I had been using Outlook all along from the day I got my mini mac.

It's very puzzling. I've had the screensaver problem while using both Mail and Outlook. Some are having problems with the screensaver and the display sleep. My problem is only with the screensaver.

Yes, I hope 10.8.3 fixes this too.

I cannot even get a Hot Corner to engage a Screensaver. Any ideas?

Hmm.. that's a new one.

Have you designated what you want each corner to do?
