Thanks for that Sjamex, as suspected. Could you please send feedback to Apple for this bug, the more of us that do, the more chance they will fix it.

I am interested in finding out why it is only affecting a few of us and what we might have in common.

Is your system drive a SSD? Do you use airplay? Apple TV?

I have sent it to apple, No ssd, no airplay, But i have a apple tv,

Hey guys! I installed the supplemental update for 10.8.2 in software update and that seemed to fix my issue so far.

Mac mini, not ssd and hooked up as a media center.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to work!

Didn't wotk for me - just the usual 2-3 hours after a re-boot.

I did the update again yesterday on new installed, after I had gone back to 10.8.1, currently works fine the last 12 hours,

So I assume that it is resolved,

Hello Sjamex, I am a bit confused, are you on 10.8.1 now or 10.8.2 and it is fixed?

  • Sjamex Level 1 (0 points)

10.8.2 now since last night 10:10 pm, Works fine,

I'm using Time Machine backup always on my Mountain Lion, So when and how I get problems I can go back to a previous backup

I have rolled back to 10.8 will see what happens. I will have to go to 10.8.2 fairly soon though because now Aperture will not load, says it needs 10.8.2. Not sure what other apps it might affect. But will leave at 10.8 just to make sure the screensaver works for an amount of time.

I originally posted this under a new thread before I found this thread:

"I often use screen-share from my laptop to access my Mac Pro desktop to perform simple tasks without actually going upstairs to access the computer. I have the desktop intitiate the screensaver with a lock screen to prevent access automatically after 10 minutes of inactivitity. However, after upgrading to OS 10.8.2 the screen saver no longer functions after using screen-share. It continues to "not" work even after ending my screen-share session and closing my laptop.

I have to re-start the desktop for the screen saver lock to function again (making it fairly useless)."

My screen share seems to work OK until I initiate a screen-share session. I did a clean re-install of OS 10.8.2, deactivated "wake for network access", reset my P-ram and corrected permissions. Nothing helped.

I submitted feedback to Apple under OS X (Mountain Lion). I suggest everyone with this problem do the same.

Well my screensaver is back to not activating on its own again.

Was fine after reboot for a few hours. But this morning it's not activating.

Can you tell me where I need to go to submit feedback to Apple on this issue?

My screensaver has been working OK since October 4th, but from what I'm reading here I'm not overly optimistic.

I just noticed an update to Bjango iStat menus, version 3.25. After updating and restarting. The screen saver has now been working properly the last hour, fingers crossed.

Okay, stopped working again. Sorry. False hope.
