Plantronics DSP-500 Headset issues
I am using a Plantronics DSP-500 USB headset on my Core Duo Mac Mini. The headset used to work fine, but now when I plug it in I get mono audio only in the right ear. If I adjust the volume up or down I still have mono sound but now it is dead center.
Also, when using the headset microphone as input in any audio application the recording level for the microphone is peaked all the time and produces loud white noise. Hitting the mic mute button on the headset controls does nothing.
I've tried multiple things to repair this: Repair permissions, running all options in Maintenance 3.4 (third party utility), unplugging the headset, restarting OS X and plugging the headset back in - all to no avail. Any ideas on what could cause this and possible fixes short of reinstalling the OS?
