ios 6 and Alpine iDA-X305

Has anyone tried using the iPhone 5 or an older iPhone with ios 6 on an Alpine iDA-X305 head unit? Any issues? Also wondering if the Lightning connector coupled with the 30 pin adapter has had any problems interfacing with Alpine radios.

my 4S with iOS6 works with my iDA-X305 pretty good, although I do have a few more itermittant issues (songs show up paused, can't unpause, etc). For the most part they work just fine together.

I really doubt the lightning-30pin adapter will do anything at all in this case. Apple has completly removed the "Ipod Out" feature from the lightning connector, which is what allows 3rd party equipment to control the ipod features of the phone.

Alpine has updated it's FAQ: http://www.alpine-usa.com/support/faq/441

Alpine conducted a quick compatibility test with the iPhone 5 and found that certain AV, AVN and Digital Media Receiver products are not able to playback iPhone music over the USB connection. Customers can, however, continue to listen to music from Pandora, or access their iPhone's music library wirelessly via BluetoothA? Wireless Technology.*

In addition, it has been reported that Bluetooth streaming meta data and control is no longer functional with iOS 6. We are working to verify all models affected.

Alpine′s engineering teams have begun detailed evaluation and specification confirmation and we will provide updated information as soon as investigations are finalized. Compatibility with other Alpine products is being verified and will also be confirmed later.

As of 9/21/2012, Alpine products verified not compatible with the iPhone 5 are:

Issue: No iPod / iPhone Music over USB

Models Effected: INE-S920HD, INE-Z928HD, IVE-W535, iDAX305S, iDA-X305, iDA-X100, and iDA-X001

We will continue to update you regarding compatibility

They don't specify whether they used an adapter and say only "over USB." I'm still confident I'll be able to get music out of a jailbr0ken iPhone 5 on iOS 6. Where there's a will, there's a way. ;P

Plus, even if the adapter doesn't work at first blush, they acknowledge that the compatibility tests conducted were "quick," which at the very least means they didn't explore all technical possibilities.

Have you ever used the Alpine app designed for Alpine headunits? It's terribly coded and buggy.

Thanks Deus and everyone else for the updates. I canceled my iPhone 5 order, hope they figure it out down the line..

Mine just arrived Monday and I've been waiting to open the package because of all this (still awaiting Power Support's screen protectors and some other peripherals) --but it looks like I too will just return it to the Apple Store accordingly.

Hi guys,

I just tried my iPhone 4S upgraded to IOS6 on IDA-X305 and I got a message on the phone that I had to download an app from the app store in order to make the phone work. I clicked on "Go to App Store" and it switched to App Store but then I got a blank screen. No app to download and the phone won't work with the IDA. ***?!? How did you guys with IOS6 and iPhone4 get yours to work? Is there a trick to this? Anyone else have a similar message?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

My X305 has worked with IOS 6 no problem - the only issue I ever had was with the previous s/w upgrade on my 3GS (5?) which meant I had to upgrade the firmware on the KCE-400BT

My 4S currently works as well as it ever has, although am looking forward to hearing if the lightning adaptors will work for wired use as I'm contemplating an iPod Nano as a permanent jukebox in the glove compartment - need to know whether it'll be a 6 or a 7...

I phoned Alpine UK to check the score, and they're still waiting for someone to try it and tell them - same for my ICE installers.

From what I understand, the convertor should work as it's a digital/analogue convertor, which is what the Alpine USB lead needs; an analogue signal

I am using CoolStream, from Exeter Science and Entertainment, is a Bluetooth receiver that is designed to plug into any 30-pin port on an iPhone dock or car accessory, allowing you to connect to said accessory using Bluetooth. This lets you use your iPhone docks with your iPads, or quickly connect to in-car devices that may otherwise be inconveniently located.

There are other adapters out there that may be better but I am currently using this one. Unfortunately pairing with my Alpine head unit is somewhat inconsistent averaging about 50 to 60% of the time.
