iPhone 5 won't sync via WiFi to iTunes

Hey guys,

I love my new iPhone 5 and everything is perfect except that it won't show up in the devices collum in iTunes after I unplug the iPhone. I have selected and deselcted the "Sync over Wifi" option several times but it just won't go. My iPhone 4S and iPad 3 have no problem syncing and it has been working all along. I have the latest version of iTunes. Anyone have any suggestions or seeing this behavior also?

Thanks,

Christian

this worked:

open

system preferences - Sharing

I clicked on internet sharing, but did not 'tick' the box (mine was off & is still is off now)

I 'ticked' the Wi-Fi tick box

and got out of preferences (i did not 'tick' the internet sharing box, dunno if that is importiant, just what i did)

my iphone 5 popped up in iTunes over Wi-Fi in like 5 seconds and has stayed there since i did a wifi sync

happy days

also changing the name to match iPhone5's name

thanks 🙂

Make sure the name of your computer is the name your iPhone is looking for. Go to System Pref.>Sharing>Computer Name - you can change the name here if you want. The name of the computer does not have to match the iPhone. Then plug in your iPhone to the computer (computer should be on power cord). Follow prompts from that point on.

You will also need to verify on you iPhone that you trust your computer. Now they will sync wirelessly because the iPhone and iTunes (computer) will be looking for the proper names.

None of the above worked for me. This did:

http://osxdaily.com/2013/02/17/wi-fi-sync-not-working-fix-ios/

(with iTunes open)

Fix for Mac OS X

  • Launch “Activity Monitor” (found in /Applications/Utilities/)
  • Use the search box in the upper right corner and search for “AppleMobileDeviceHelper”
  • Select that process and then click the red “Quit Process” button
  • Leave Activity Monitor and then relaunch iTunes

Fix for Windows

  • Hit Control+Alt+Delete to summon the task manager then choose the “Service” tab
  • Locate “Apple Mobile Device” OR “AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe” (depends on Windows version)
  • Right-click and restart the service, or select it and choose “End Process”
  • Relaunch iTunes again to find the iOS device visible via wi-fi

I was having the issue earlier to, and I had nearly every solution posted on every forum. Then my brain started working and something clicked. Did you make sure you have bonjour running? Because I didn't i had turned mine off in system settings. I only know how to do it on microsfot not on mac so the process i followed was

Start-->MSCONFIG(just type it in the search bar)-->then click the tab SERVICES-->

I hide all the microsoft things with the little box at the bottom left of that screen, and my apple services boxes where mostly unclicked, i made sure all of them where clicked, espcially the bonjour sevice, and then clicked ok, restarted my computer, and opened itunes and now my phones show up
