    That's crazy that it seems like such a huge problem and yet it is not being addressed.

    For me, it's not much of a problem anymore, as the main reason I used it no longer exists; I used it basically everyday for 2 years at least, one of those years, everything worked perfectly then the upgrade sent it spiraling down, ending the relationship with FaceTime, and the person I used it with almost everday (not blaming FaceTime of course for the demise haha but it did make things frustrating-using ASL when the screen gets frozen/pixelated/booged down(slow) etc is a nightmare)

    Now I only use it occasionally and for short periods of time, not hours like I did before. It is strange sometimes it worked fine and sometimes not. Also LTE/4g it works great but then eats up my data, so that's no good!

    Hopefully it gets worked out!

    Same problem here. As I've tested my 5 with my mother's ipad mini(both IOS6), we got this problem. but when I was testing my wife's 4s(IOS5) with my 5, it is fine. and my wife's 4s(IOS5) with my mother's ipad mini, it is fine as well. so I think this problem happens when you are using facetime between two IOS6 devices.

    Facing the same issues with a connection lost message. The strange bit is that the other person can 'hear' the ring tone but there is no sign of audio or video at this end. Apple needs to fix this bug!!! Is someone listening?

    My guess is still that the IOS 6 clients are routed to a bunch of servers that can handle the wifi and 3g based streams and these machines are suffering under the load, things like running out of streams resources and issues like that. I expect it will get better only if Apple starts charging for this service, more bucks for more server resources are likely then. That's the problem with offering a free useful service to everyone, it gets overloaded fast!

    I was using Facetime intensively on iOS 5 (everyday arround one hour for nearly a year) and was always amazed about the quality in comparison to  skype, hangouts or other video services (which I also used intesively in work surroundings). Since iOS 6, independently of being on wifi or on 3g, I get the poor connection message from time to time, actually quite often. Even though this message seems to be new, interestingly it was never necessary on iOS 5 as I never had a problem there.


    Apple: Pleeeeeaaaaase fix this issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


    Facetime was one of the killer features of iOS (I was wondering why not promoted better as the competition was far away before iOS 6).


    Did this change happen because of the VirnetX lawsuit?

    I too am having the same issue on an iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1.4

    Has apple addressed the issue at all?

    ok, seems my problems vanished. At least I had now for a few days no more problems. Perhaps it was a server side issue at Apple. I'll come back, when my problems reappear.
