Connecting iMac to Sony DSC-HX30V camera

Hi

I have just bought a new camera - Sony DSC-HX30V, while the camera itself works really well, I'm having issues connecting to my iMac to use the 'Send to Computer' feature.

I've downloaded the 'wireless auto import.app' application and ran it with the camera connected via USB in order to set it up.

I have set up the camera on my network and it connects successfully and can display pictures on my TV so it seems that it's connecting fine to the network itself.

However, when i come to use the 'Send to Computer' feature on my mac, it displays my SSID as it should then it states

'Searching... IMAC.local'

then

'Connecting... IMAC.local

and then hangs for a while before giving a 'Network error occurred' message which unfortunately doesn't give any info as to why it's failing.

I've looked at Bonjour using 'bonjour browser' software and while the camera is displaying 'Connecting...', Picture Transfer Protocol is shown in bonjour browser with DSC-HX30V under it so it looks to be connecting to bonjour ok.

This looks to be something on the mac blocking the connection.

I'm at a loss as to how I can do anything else with this, has anyone had something similar / can anyone provide assistance as to hw I can resolve this.

I'm running Mountain Lion.

Cheers

Adam

Here's how I got the DSC-HX30V to send wireless to computer on iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running Mac OS 10.8.5 using Wireless Auto Import version 1.1.0.11204:

Assuming you were able to set up Access Point to your network. (yellow bar and check mark)

Here's the trick the instructions do not mention: In camera settings change the USB Connection to MTS (instead of Auto). Connect the USB cable and click "set" on the Wireless Auto Import Device Setting. You should get a response now.

Disconnect the USB and change the USB Connection setting BACK TO "AUTO"

Go to Wi-Fi Send to Computer and try now. I'm not sure if I restarted the computer or camera, but it worked!

Good luck!

Well, it appears I'm running into a similar problem. I downloaded the wireless auto import. When I connect my dsc-hx30v (set to the MTP instead of auto...mine doesn't say MTS, only P) via usb to my macbook, I open the software and try to "set this computer as the device that imports files from your camera wirelessly", I click set, enter my computer password, the an info window pops up and says "connect your camera and mac using a usb cable and click ok." I do so, and then it says "cannot find camera. check that the camera is connected to the computer with a usb cable." It is. I have. NUMEROUS times! So now what?? On the camera it says "USB Mode connecting... Check connected device." That's all I've got! How did you add your camera to your network? I'm not sure that's my problem, but I just know I can't pull my pics or videos off this camera, other than only pulling the pics via wifi between my iphone or ipad. Going that route won't allow the videos, just the pics.

Help!!??!!
