    Are you running iOS 6.0.2?

After installing that it resolved my wi-fi issues.

Wi-Fi on my iPhone 5 stopped working (updated to iOS 6.1 yesterday, don't know if this caused the problem), tried Resetting network connections, rebooting Time Capsule and various other fixes as suggested on support communities but nothing fixed the problem. My last attempt was to do as you suggested, typed "TEST" into client ID then hit the renew lease button. Wi-Fi is now working, thanks for the fix.

Same issues. I bought an iphone5 recently, but in the next day, I found I had trouble connecting wifi. Although the signal is strong, but in fact can't open webpage. I went to apple service center to make a detection. Apple service staff has admited the hardware has some issues, and they will give me a new one within seven days.

It is a fortunate circumstance whether wifi works or not, not a solution for everyone.

There is something amiss in the design of the iPhone 5 WIFI design.  I can walk to all of the remote areas of my house with my iPhone 4 (on the 2.4  Ghz band) and recieve maximum signal level, as soon as a go up the steps in my house the iPhone drops to one bar.   The good news is that the iPhone 5 supports the 5 Ghz band.  The bad news is that the only way I can connect to the 5Ghz band is to be in the same room as the router.  I am using an Apple Airport Extreme, current firmware level (7.6.3).

All other WIFI devices  in my house function without a problem, including a Nest thermostat, two WIFI TVs, iPad, and iMac.

The iPhone is at the current IOS level,

When I turned off "HTTP Proxy" (WiFi settings) the wifi seems to work fine.

I have a new iPhone 5 with WiFi range and speed issues, none that my old 4 had.  Apple states in their latest ad here:

"Ultrafast wireless that doesn’t sacrifice battery life."

I am very dissatified in my latest iPhone purchase. Apple, please solve this problem for all your iPhone 5 buyers.

I can't connect to wifi at all..I've tried all the different fixes and same result. I hope Apple releases a fix for this soon.

I recently went to the Apple Store to find out why my Iphone 5 would not connect to my wifi...I was told that there is a problem with the phone and that I would have to buy a new one.  I can't imagine any company designing a faulty product and not doing a recall.   I'm so very disappointed with Apple.

I have had an iPhone 4 and it was perfect and have an iPad 3 and again it's great, but my iPhone 5 does not manage to hold a wifi connection at all no matter where i use my phone, really disappointed in the iPhone 5 as this is my second one after screen issues with the first one.  Genius Bar replaced the phone but looks like I will have to go back AGAIN :( I work for vodafone UK and this seems to be a problem for a lot of customers in store! :(

Issue:  Iphone 5 would not hold a connection for Wifi until within 15 feet of router.  If wifi drops it can not find the router again to connect unless the network has been "forgot" and the phone has been shut off and on.

This is my story.  Daughter #1 got an Iphone 5 first.  Had issues staying connected to wifi anywhere unless she was sitting right on top of the router.  Took it back to the store and they replaced it.  Had some problems at first but then they cleared up. Didn't have time to take it back right away. This was back in July.

Me and my 2nd Daughter upgraded this past weekend to Iphone5's.  Hers works fine, mine is having the same issue Daughter #1 was having in July.  Returned my phone for Phone #2.  Worked at first then had the same issue.  Took it back Sunday and the store reluctantly swapped it out again even though they could not duplicate the issue.  Got home and still the same issue.  Made an appointment with the Apple Bar.

So frustrated and got on this discussion board and a comment that I had not seen before rang a BIG BELL.

In July my Daughter #1 bought a cheap case for her much anticipated phone she was to receive.  She had the case first.  A few days after swapping out her first phone she got a new more expensive case.  When she switched cases, the problem was resolved.  Did not realize it at the time.

When I got my phone...Daughter #1 brings me her first cheapo case and said I could use it until my new case arrived.  Everytime the phone WAS working, this case had been removed.  Everytime it was NOT working the case was on.  I am dumbfounded that it was something so simple.

The case was a plastic thin case that was painted metallic to look like a mirror.  I am assuming that the "paint" was causing a barrier with the antenna and giving poor connection.

After going through 3 phones for me and 2 for my daughter....I have trashed that case.  My phone works fine and I have cancelled my Apple Bar appointment.

If you are having the same problem....remove your case to see if it could be the issue.  The case was plastic so I never made the connection.  I am so glad it was so simple.
