I just upgraded to iOS 6 and since i did, I have a 1 red notification dot on my reminders app. But deleted all my reminders and have restarted the phone, opened and closed the app in multitasking but that red notification is still there. It's been 3 days now. How do I get rid of it?

Go to settings, tap notification center, scroll down until you see reminders. Tap on reminders, and you will see several different notification options. Find "badges" and tap on the switch to turn them off. The switch should now be white. The red dot should be gone now. This worked for me, hopefully it works for you too.
I have exactly the same problem. Very annoying.
