IOS 6 - wifi off in sleep mode!? How to fix?

Since upgrading to IOS 6 the wifi is turned off when the phone goes to sleep!?

I want the wifi to be on at all times, even when the phone is in sleep mode!

I have tried reseting network settings, doing soft reset to iphone, unplugging router, etc, but so far haven't been able to fix the problem.

The issue is on an iphone4 with IOS 6.0 and was not present on IOS 4 or 5 for me...
