Try unplugging the router for a minute or two!

tried that.. I have an iphone my mom has an iphone and we just got an ipad yesterday.. everything worked... today when i got home from work none of the Apple devices worked... im so angry right now

Perhaps a little unfair to Apple! I suspect your router is the problem. Test any of the devices on a friend's / neighbour's router andvtake it from there.

I am having the same issue.  On 9/22/12 I upgraded my iPhone 4s to IOS 6.  From then on when I try to connect to my home wireless I get Unable to join network "<mynetworkname>".  It was working fine before the upgrade.

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections

iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks

iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

    Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at ork.html

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

If none of the above suggestions work, look at this link.

Unable to Connect After iOS Update - saw this solution on another post.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

If any of the above solutions work, please post back what solved your problem. It will help others with the same problem.

Hi. I just ran into the same problem today. Wifi worked fine this morning and when I got home it stpped working. So I rebooted, did forget network and reset network and nothing worked. Then I found a solution that was so stupid it actually worked. I opened up my network to no password needed and it worked. Now I don't have any neighbors so there is no problem with unwanted people sharing my network. I hope that helps someone.

I've got the same problem, two of the networks that I normally connect to won't work on my iphone 4 any more (just happened) and won't accept the correct network passwords at all. I can't remove the password from the hub and don't want to but I have now got an iphone that doesn't work on wifi! This goes with an ipad just out of one year warranty which won't recognise a sim anymore and Apple can't help as it seems to be a common fault. So, I now have two Apple products neither of which do what they are meant to do - great!

I'm having the same problem. My Iphone will not connect to the network that has dozens of other devices working fine. It connected before, and clearing the network settings doesn't help.

I too am having a similar problem. I have 4 apple devices. one iPhone5 (iOS 6)that connects to the wifi network fine. One iPhone 4s (iOS 5) that connects fine. My iPhone 3Gs (iOS 6) will not connect and my iPad (iOS 5) will not connect. I have unplugged and re plugged the router multiple times...

In each device that does not work click on Settings, select the network name, click on the blue arrow to Forget This Network and try signing in again.

This is fundamental to the problem as the new version of IOS doesn't bring up the Forget this Network option at all. I spoke at length to an Apple person the other day and it does seem the issue may be to do with either remembering a network and not being able to reset it. I now have the same problem on the same phone that now won't recognize the password / pin number for my bluetooth hands free kit in the car, so I now have a phone that doens't log onto networks that were OK before plus I can't use on handsfree with the car kit that cost a lot of money. Apple told me I should buy a new iPhone 5 to solve the problem, no real solution in my view!

Thanks for your advice, but could you please clarify where's the option of "forget this network" in ios6 - I don't see it after clicking the blue arrow...

Also a question to anyone who may know: I recently bought a new ipad, updated to ios6 and visited 2 hotels. in one of them wifi worked well while in the other - was "unable to join network". Both wifi were of browser login type. My android phone connected well with both. I tried all on ipad side, except downgrading, but to no result. Unfortunately, I cannot play with hotel's router settings. At home I'll have more time and will be able to play with my router. Still, usage at hotels is very important advantage of a tablet. So the question is which wifi router settings should be asked from hotel at the time of booking so as to be sure that the ipad's wifi will be compatible with their wifi? May sound silly, but I see no other solution with hotels...

  • Ian collins Level 1 (0 points)

I am finding exactly the same problem with hotels but I only have problems with those hotels (and work and other networks) I have previously visited before the IOS update, again seems to be something to do with no way of forgeting the network and doing a reset. Was the hotel you visited that didn't work one you had previously logged onto before?

  • Nahsle Level 1 (0 points)

In the 1st hotel I was with iOS5. It worked well. In that hotel I upgraded to ios6. After that the ipad also worked well in that 1st hotel. Then I moved to the 2nd hotel and the problem started. Didn't yet checked it at home. Yes, I also think that reset in ios6 is not a full "factory reset" but something else...
