iCloud COntrol Panel 2.0: now unable to send emails from outlook

I have upgraded to iCloud 2.0 control panel. Anw from now, I cannot anymore send any email from my Outlook 2010 (WIn 7 64 bits): when I click on "send" on a fresh message, the message window closes, but in the "outbox" the message icon appears open. And will never leave the outbox.

If I deselect the iCloud Outlook Add-in, then sending an email works fine again , as it did with the previous version of iCloud.

So I must make a choice:

  • either using Outlook for email with no iCLoud sync,
  • or syncing contacts and calendar in Outlook, but no emails capability!! 😟

Did anyone encounter the same problem?

Hi

I now have iCloud 2.11 and have had to switch the addin back on so that I can put my outlook calender into the cloud.

The problem came back.

To solve it this time,

- I create a dummy email, called Dummy

- I edit and save it, without clicking send, so that even under normal circumsances, it would never go.

- When I write a new email, and if i go into the outbox, the cursor is on the dummy email.

Any new emails remain marked in bold iutalics, and will send.

This does mean that I always have one email in the outbox though.

I can live with this to get the benefits of having the calendar across all of my devices.

Come on Apple, fix it! The way things are going, my next computer will have to be an Apple, if nothing else to avoid the issues that crop up with PC use.

On a side note, being a high end PC and Office user, I asked a friend with similar skills about her Apple Mac. She said that once she had reconfigured it to do things like a PC e.g. something akin to right mouse click and a few keyboard tweaks, it was passable. Not having a proper forward delete key was still a pain though.

If you (carefully) modify the registry in the following locations, changing the LoadBehavior value from 3 to 0 it will disable the integration with outlook and leave the rest of iCloud alone. Outlook will then send as normal.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins

Export the subkeys, and then change the LoadBehavior value to 0 in order to disconnect an add-in. Restart Outlook and test.

...

Caution Incorrectly editing the registry may severely damage your operating system, requiring you to reinstall it. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from editing the registry incorrectly can be resolved. Before editing the registry, back up any valuable data. For the most recent information about using and protecting your computer's registry, see Microsoft Windows Help.

We don't want to turn the add-in off as it does other things in Outllok that we do want it to do. We just want it to do those things without affecting the sending of e-mails. I note that version 2.1.2, just released, still has this problem.

😟

By the way you can disable the add-in from within Outlook without having to modify the registry.

I had the same issue and figured it out. First you have to start Outook as administrator. To do this, shift and right-click on outlook and click run as administrator. Next you need to enable Hard-disabled add-ins:

Hard-Disabled Add-Ins

Hard disabling can occur when an add-in causes the application to close unexpectedly. It might also occur on your development computer if you stop the debugger while the Startup event handler in your add-in is executing.

To re-enable an add-in

  1. In the application, click the File tab.
  2. Click the ApplicationName Options button.
  3. In the categories pane, click Add-ins.
  4. In the details pane, verify that the add-in appears in the Disabled Application Add-ins list.

The Name column specifies the name of the assembly, and the Location column specifies the full path of the application manifest.

  5. In the Manage box, click Disabled Items, and then click Go.
  6. Select the add-in and click Enable.
  7. Click Close.

Then you need to activate it.

To re-enable an add-in

  1. In the application, click the File tab.
  2. Click the ApplicationName Options button.
  3. In the categories pane, click Add-ins.
  4. In the details pane, verify that the add-in appears in the Inactive Application Add-ins list.

The Name column specifies the name of the assembly, and the Location column specifies the full path of the application manifest.

  5. In the Manage box, click COM Add-ins, and then click Go.
  6. In the COM Add-Ins dialog box, select the check box next to the disabled add-in.
  7. Click OK.

No techie her, this doesn't seem to have any affect on the issue. I have noticed that it is sporadic. And as indicated by tmac238 it definitely happens when you have the outbox folder open. Until apple fixes the issue, the only remedy I've found is to disable the add-in when it prevents something from sending, then re-enable it after the message has been sent, disable it when it happens again and so on... Definitely not convenient.

Hello

I have the same problem! After I open the emails again in the Outbox they are no longer sent.

I hope that Apple takes in the next update of the matter.

Especially in the 1.1.x - version of this problem did not exist.

I believe, but I have a temporary solution: (my system: Win7/64 + Outlook 2007)

- First, uninstall all Apple software.

- If necessary, the folder "C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services" delete.

- Restart the computer.

- Install the iCloud Control Panel 1.1.0.40 - but still not able to connect to Outlook. (Hook with contacts, calendar ... not set)

- Go back to the folder "C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services"

- Copy the files "AppleOutlookDAVConfig.exe" and "APLZOD32.dll" to its own folder. This is the most important task!

- Uninstall the old iCloud Control Panel again.

- Restart the computer.

- Now install the new version. but even now do not create connection to Outlook. (Think of the hook)

- Again, go to the folder (see above)

- Delete the new files "AppleOutlookDAVConfig.exe" and "APLZOD32.dll"!

- The saved "old" Paste Files.

- Restart the computer

Configure the connection to Outlook -

- And ... - The error is gone. (at least for me 🙂)

But beware: The iCloud Control Panel update now not the same!

I hope this works for you too! At least until Apple has solved the problem.

Greetings from Germany
