Notes App Keeps Making Recovered Items Folder

How did they show/present "Notes" during the keynote without it making any duplicates??? Isn't that lucky? They used it for nearly 20 sec which should've been enough...

Did some more testing of the conflict handling behavior in Notes accross Mac and iPhone. It seems really flaky. I have been using Notes since the beginning, and it looks like Apple has not done anything to improve it other than putting francy user interface on top of it.

It's not even possible to do a regular text search in my note (Command-F, Command-E don't work.)

FYI: You can delete the Recovered Items folder to get rid of all the duplicates. In fact, I threw together a little automator script and tied it to a hot key. Still annoying, but a simple key press cleans up the mess.

Notes syncing works great for a lot of people, so this is not a bug that hits everyone. But it doesn't look like anyone have figured out exactly what conditions might trigger this. 😟

Hope I can explain this correctly but I just discovered that if you clik a note content and leave the mouse cursor in that position when you close the app it doesnt create duplicates. Very strange.

Also it maybe has something to do with the folders that I created. So, it's not that I am doing anything strange to it. I just use it.

After testing with 3 clean installs and diferent and new accounts I just tested also with my friends macbook air (just for the sake of it) and it created duplicates imediatly. Also he didn't notice the bug, probably because he just didn't use it enough.

Well, this has officially gotten annoying enough that I've switched back to Evernote. Too bad - I liked the idea of universally syncing Apple notes. Maybe I'll come back if they ever get this fixed

Even worse if one uses multiple IMAP accounts.

Does anyone know if there is an IMAP standard that Notes 'requires'?

Scratch that. Just encountered the issue again. Hopefully it will be fixed when Notes becomes independent of Mail, perhaps in the next major OS release.

When you get this "recovered items" folder are there notes in it? I think it's created whenever there is a sync hiccup that would cause a conflict. Those notes that can't be properly copied to the server or have a merge issue stay local.

If I delete the notes from the "recovered items" folder then it's gone after the next launch.

I can confirm that it still happens in 10.8.3 ... *sigh* ... I really had high hopes for this release. 😢

It's been 8 months and 3 major updates with no fix in sight. I gave up and migrated my 100+ notes to Evernote. 😟

Also, even though you do not see duplicates on iOS devices, there are a lot of duplicates on iCloud.com as well

Yes, exactly William. But it comes back the next time a sync issue occurs.
