I bought an iPhone last week, and I've realized that when the iPhone screen is locked wifi disconnects.
If I have also connected 3G, the 3G connection appears, and if I have not connected 3G is none connection.
And in milliseconds reappears wifi icon again.
Is it normal?

Hi, I have the same problem and I don't know how resolve it :-(. So, without wifi connection , when iPhone is in standby, I don't receve any notification and it is absurd 😠
But... It is a manufacturing defect? Maybe just happens to us.
No, I have iPhone 4S and whit iOS 5.1.1 the wifi worked also in standby. I have the problem with iOS 6, so I think that it is a software problem.
Tomorrow, on Monday, I will call AppleCare, because I have 90 days of free telephone support.

Yep, annoying because I can't seem to receive FaceTime calls...
EDIT: I even tried a complete restore, that didn't help either...
I restored 2 times, but the problem remain. Now my iPhone don't find my wifi home network 😠😠😠

Me too, as long as "use cellular data for FaceTime" enabled is. But when I disable that and turn my cellular data off, but wifi on, I can't receive FaceTime calls.. It used to be possible in iOS5 😟
I'm testing all possibilities calling me from Mac to iPhone. But the problem is I do not know exactly when the wifi is disconnected.
