Mackbook won't boot, repair disk says HD is ok
My macbook won't boot, even in safemode. I've reset the NVRAM, and booted from the system disk, and did a repair disk. It reported that the HD was ok. What is the next step?
MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Try reinstalling the OS.
I figured that I'd have to do that, but it's my wife's MB and she hasn't backed it up in over a year - can I reinstall the OS without affecting the rest of the HD, so I don't lose anything?
Yes, it should only replace the OS components, not affect User's files.
