Does your iPhone 5 Lens rattle?

My 4s did this and I know having read on here that other people are getting this issue with the iPhone 5 as well. Unfortunately I don't think there is anything you can do to fix it...

My iPhone 5 does not rattle.

My wife's iPhone 5 does not rattle even after she dropped it on the floor.

Both work well.

I'm having the same problem. I scheduled an appointment for today at the Genius Bar. The guy that was helping me took the phone to the back and said that he compared my phone's rattle to other three and it happens to be the vibrator moving inside when i shake it. I didn't have this problem with my iphone 3G or 4, but now I'm stuck for 2 years with an expensive rattle.

The iPhone 4 (though less noticable) had the same issue ----> IT'S THE POWER BUTTON, AND VOLUME BUTTONS. Hold them, then shake the phone, then you'll see! If not, Replace your phone!

It doesn't when I shake the phone, but if I tap the back of the phone with my fingers I can hear a slight rattle.

On iphone 4s this is normal! Out of four iphone's I checked, they all rattled the same way, including mine. It appears to be a small movement of lens elements. I haven't got my hands on iphone 5 yet, but I wouldn't pay much attention to that.

In my eyes this is normal and due to the autofocus lens. My 4 had it, my 4s had it and now my 5 has it aswell.

In my case I have observed this in both iphone 4 and 5 but in the 5, the videos shake a lot.

I believe I know the solution to the camera rattle. Unfortunately, as far as I know, this will require an iOS update from Apple. Understanding that the issue was from the camera elements, I toyed with the iOS camera app and found that if I tried to focus on an object very close it would stop the rattle. This, I believe, because the focusing elements compact together, "pancaking", so to speak, the assembly. So all this would mean is that if Apple were to release an update that would place the elements in this compact form when not in use then the rattle would no longer be there when outside of the camera app. The only issue then is getting Apple to realize this. Noone would have to bring in their iPhones to the Genius Bar. An update to iOS is all that's needed. This solution is like taking a DSLR lens and turning it to compact it except this would just have iOS take car of it.

Pn my iphone 5 16 GB i do have this rattle and to be perfectly Honest i dont have a problem with it my phone works perfectly fine. I dont know if the guys at the genius bar could help you with that problem.

What if the lens does not hold in the compacted position without consuming energy. The explanation to the rattle noice would then be, that it is a trade off with battery life?

I have an iPhone 5S and if I tap the back of the iPhone about a centimeter underneath the camera lense then I hear a slight rattle. I'll pop back to the shop and see what they say and report back.

Sorry to res an old thread but I just got my first iPhone, the 5s, last night and i noticed it had a light rattle toward the top of the phone. i held the power button down all the way, as if turning the phone off, and when i shook the phone it was silent. i feel so much better now! Thank you!
