can you tell me how to change the default ringtone on my iPhone 5?
if you go general/ sounds/ringtones the marimbais the default and it cant be altered?
iPhone 5, iOS 6
Marimba is the default, but you can choose one of the others.
No it only seems to happen on iPhone 5
It doesn't matter what you choose as a ring tone
Marimba remains default
Having same problem. Gonna try a restore when I get home see if that works.

It doesnt matter what ringtone you select Marimba remaind default, you can manually change the ringtone for each individual contact however
It sounds like not being able to change the default is a defect that should be reported to Apple. Here's how to do that:
Just talked with tech support. If you kill ALL running apps (by double-clicking on the home button), including the phone app. Then do a soft reset by "powering off" / "powering on" your phone. This should change the default ringtone. IT WORKED
Side note: I had already selected the ringtone that I wanted to use as default before doing the reset. Not sure if that will make a difference.
