Do you both share an iTunes account/Apple ID?  You probably have iMessage turned on, and if you share and Apple ID, then you share an iMessage address.  Hence, you are getting each others messafes.

To fix this, one of you needs to make a new iCloud account for your iMessages.  You can do that from the Settings app on your iPhone.

And here is a guide on using 1 Apple ID for purchases and 1 for iMessage: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4895 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HE37

You both must be using the same Apple ID.

You can do that for Settings > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID > use purchasing AppleID here

For other Apple services like FaceTime, iMessages, iCloud, etc. one of you should get a new Apple ID.

Ok so i am facing the same problem.. somehow my sister receives all of my messages on whatsapp or any other app.. So if I create a new ID, will that stop my messages from going to her? I have iPhone 4 whereas she has a 4S..

    Please let me know ASAP

    Thanks

Goto settings then messages then send and receive and you will see all accounts ticked

uncheck the ones you dont want on your phone.

Your Sister has to do the above mentioned procedure on any Device that is receiving your messages as well.  This is if you share the same AppleID (which is not a problem ...You can share but upgrades may re-check each others addresses - which you will need to correct).

I'm having the same problem...my husband and I both have iPhone 4.  I downloaded the iOS 7, his is still the old version for now.  The morning after I updated my software, our phones became linked and he was receiving my texts.

I believe the resolution is to keep our shared Apple ID for iTunes and purchased content and create a new Apple ID for him only for iCloud.  I'm just wondering what he will lose, if anything, by creating a new Apple ID long after using the current one.

Also, any suggestion on whether I should update the software on his phone before or after creating a new Apple ID for iCloud for his phone.

    Thank you for your assistance!!
