Does iOS 6 Message Access Profile work in Toyota premium hdd Nav system

I have 2012 hybrid Camry with premium Hdd. When using my BBERRY, I receive email messages through the system. For some reason the SMS MMS messages fail to load. My question however is that when using my iPhone 4S with iOS 6 I still cannot receive messages The Messages feature in the Nav system Phone panel is simply blacked out. I thought this was supposed to be corrected when iOS 6 Bluetooth Message Access Profile support was introduced. Ay help would be appreciated. It is so odd that I can receive my .mac/iCloud email while driving through my Blackberry but Not through my iPhone

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.0.1

Short answer is yes it does work generally in IOS 6 but not sure about Toyota specifically

Try on your iphone

Settings

Bluetooth

Touch the right arrow of the device you are paired with (and want to activate MAP on) to goto the settings menu for that device

You should see a Show Notifications slider - slide this to on

Thank You! This helped me get part way there. I did as noted in your reply, and the "Messages" function is now active on the car Van/Bluetooth system when connected w/my iPhone 4s w/iOS6. I am now able to get SMS/MMS text messages displayed and read through the Nav/Bluetooth system (After turning "Show Notification" to on, I did need to disconnect and then reconnect the phone for the change to take effect on the car system)

However, I still do not get EMAIL iPhone messages displayed, as I do with the BlackBerry. I am convinced however, that there must be a way! I can get email messages on Blackberry and I have the same email accounts on both phones. I refuse to believe BB can do something (useful) that the iPhone cannot.

Any ideas on how to make the emails also transfer to the Nav/BT system from the iPhone would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry no - my car system doesn't have this functionality and I can't seem to find any options within the mail or notification centre to activate it.

Interestingly the show notifications slider seems to only shows if the device you are connecting to has the sms transfer functionality so it could be that the e-mail transfer option (if implemented) only shows if the system has that functionality also.

At a guess it is probably the way Apple has implemented (or not as the case maybe) MAP. My system has the ability to send predetermined messages from the car unit in response to an SMS but this will not work with my iphone. It would be nice if Apple issued a technical brief on what of the MAP they have implemented and not implemented
