On your iPad, check Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...scroll down to the Calendars sectiion and tap Default Calendar.  Here be sure you have selected your iCloud accout calendar and not something else such the calendar under On My Mac or On My iPad.  (iCloud only syncs your iCloud calendar.)  If you change it, enter a new event on your iPad and see if it syncs to your iPhone now.

That's because you have been entering your events on a calendar that doesn't sync with iCloud.  You'll have to re-enter your events on your iCloud calendar for them to appear on your phone.  (This can usually be done most easily on your computer if it is syncing with iCloud.  There you can drag and drop the events from your current calendar to your iCloud calendar.)

What if you're working without a computer? How do you accomplish the syncing then? I have the same issue as the original poster, and have selected only the iCloud calendar---still when I add an event on the ipad the iPhone does not reflect it.

Original poster didn't mention computer. So you do have the same situation. So you need to re read Randers first post really carefully. Not the one that was chosen as answer. You also want to make sure you use the same account.

Fromsouth, I read and re-read the post you refer to. After double checking all the settings, I'm still having the same problem: new events entered (in iCloud calendar) on ipad are NOT being synced to my iPhone 5. I am using the same account.

To add to my last post, it's not syncing the other way either, apparently. Events entered directly into iCloud calendar on iPhone not appearing on ipad

Are they appearing on that website?

    www.icloud.com

    1. If they are you need to check stuff that Randers mentioned on IPAD

    2. if they are not you need to check that on the iphone.

Not seeing my calendar at that website. All I see is options of setting up iCloud , installing find my iPhone/find my contacts. Am I supposed to be able to view my calendar there? I def have iCloud set up on my ipad and iPhone since in settings, it lists my account and the items (mail, calendar, reminders, etc) that I can choose to turn on or off in iCloud. Perhaps I didn't understand what you wrote.

You did understand and yes you suppose to sign in with the same account, that you told me you checked and found the same. If you can't sign in, which is hard to imagine after your description and it gives you that message. That would really mean that no icloud account with your credentials have been created.

    1. Lets try to get to that site again. www.icloud.com. Should be a black page with sign in fields. Once you sign in you should see 7 icons, one of them being your calendars.

2 Open those and follow previous directions.

OOOOO Do it on the computer. NOT AN IPAD OR PHONE. Those can't get there.

I had been trying to get to the site on my ipad, which is why I couldn't access the calendar. I borrowed my husband's laptop and found the calendar at iCloud.com. That calendar does NOT reflect many of the recent new events I'd recorded on my ipad and iPhone. Additionally, I tried again to add new events on both mobile devices and those new events were not appearing on the calendar at iCloud.com/calendar.

Ellen, I do not have much time and Randers will show up later on, so you REALLY need to do these steps

1.On your iPad, check Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...scroll down to the Calendars sectiion and tap Default Calendar.  Here be sure you have selected your iCloud accout calendar and do same on your phone.

    2. Open your calendar app on both, click calendars in top left corner and make sure that check marks are selected ONLY on "cloud" calendars. You may lose some events, cause you are using different calendar, but they will start sync.

    Check your sync.
