That only removes your content, it doesn't change the iOS version
I came close to buying a MacBook...but if this is true, it's back to a PC laptop for me. Apple is starting to seem like Disneyland: "We know what's going to make you happy; what's good for you. Don't try having your own preferences."

How does your opinion of iOS 6 for mobile devices affect your decision to buy a MacBook? MacBooks don't run iOS.
And as for "we know what's good for you", no one tops Microsoft.

It's just the arrogance of the non-backwards-compatibility attitude; I don't deny that both platform producers have it. But after using Apple products for years (and, yes, including using two excellent previous versions of iOS with my iPad) I'm just going to be leery of them after this, whether I would be considering something that runs iOS 6, OS X, OS X Mountain Lion, OS Nittany Lion, or whatever -- this hasn't been a warm and fuzzy experience.
I hear you. Recognizing that there is a limit to backwards compatibility, I personally am happy with the direction that Apple is going while I have stopped adopting Microsoft's Windows and Office updates.
We all have our prefernces and act accordingly. Thanks for discussing your viewpoint.
There are always issues with the initial version of software, but Apple are generally well-timed with updates. Remember that you're not forced to upgrade initially, you can do so at your own pace and I would always recommend reading up on potential upgrade issues before you jump the gun.
Lesson learned, and yes, I should have known better. Which is why our 3 other iOS 5 based Apple products will remain that way. :-)
