What is the resolution/size of the background image?

I have some images of the Nasa Shuttle I want to put as my background but I can never seem to get them or any image for that matter to not be blurry. I was thinking of just resizing it in pixlr to fit the dimensions of the background. What image sizes/resolution should I start looking for in the furture? Im very particular about quality lol

The best size is to actually match the display(s) you are using. The simplest way to match it up is to take a screenshot (Cmd-Shift-3) and see the size of that. It'l tell you exactly what dimensions matches your system.

Depends on your MBP and screen size. I have a 15" mid 2010 MBP and I look for wallpapers with resolutions around 1440 x 900, but you might get by with a resolution as low as 800 x 600. I have a lot of pictures that I use as background but I don't know the resolution but if the file size is around 500K it usually works up to a 24" screen size
