iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. An unkown error occurred (0xE8000084). iPhone 4
If if close iTunes, log out of Windows7, enter back into my account, start iTunes, connect my phone it works. Then after a while I can't reconnect iTunes with my iPhone. currently on 10.7.0.21 and on iO6 on the phone.
Seems to be betwen Win7 and iTunes, possibly un-install of iTunes and fresh install?

Me too, same setup as you too.
Connects to my iPad just fine.
The problem seems to be with the application ATH.exe. If you open the Windows Task Manager and stop this process and reconnect your device, iTunes will find the device and allow you to sync.
Found a solution that works for me:
In Windows Device Manager select the iphone driver and press 'delete', then 'ok'.
Make sure itunes is closed then run the installer again, this time select 'repair'.
It will install a new driver.
Once complete ,your iphone will now be recognised and sync.

I have to uninstall iTunes and reinstall it every time I try to use it. iTunes either comes up with "itunes could not connect to this phone. An unknown error occurred (0xE8000084)" or doesn't recognise that there is a phone connected at all. I wish somebody could come up with a better interface. Nobody has this stupid cr*p to deal with if they have an android phone.
I I have just tried stopping my AVG anti-virus software, stopping iTunes, then removed the iPhone drivers, re-booting my system with all the AVG services disabled, then pluging the iPhone back in to the system to allow the drivers to install without AVG.
Will see if this helps.
Rather than un-installing and re-installing iTunes, just open the Task Manager and select the Process tab. Stop the ATH.exe process.
Plug your iPhone back in and iTunes will recognize the phone.

I have restored my phone and uninstalled and re installed itunes several times. Tried the other methods as well but none seem to work. Please someone help with this!
This solution works perfectly for me - iPhone 4S iOS 6.0.1 windows 7 (newest iTunes to date 02/01/12 can't remember version & can't find out which version due to new update limiting file options - no "about iTunes" or "help" buttons)
