I haven't found out how to do it yet, and I don't know whether it's been removed (permanently or temporarily) or whether you can only now do it via your computer's iTunes. You can still view and download hidden items on your iOS device (via the old 'unhiding method), you just can't currently unhide them.

Can't even do it in iTunes. I'm trying to show hidden apps. Click on hidden apps option in view account not there.  How did you do it?

You should still be able to view hidden apps in iOS 6 and download them (e.g. tap on your id at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app and select View Apple ID), you just can't unhide (or hide) them directly on an iOS 6 device : hiding and unhiding. If you don't get a 'hidden purchases' section then are you sure that you've got items hidden on that account ?

    Hidden on your iDevice:

    go to Settings/General/Restrictions

Enable Restrictions (don't forget the password)

Set the slider to OFF for the App that you want hidden.

I may not have hidden apps in the account but I KNOW I have them on my new IPad mini.  I can type in the name of the app and it opens beautifully and functionally but it does not appear on the iPad.

I tried this and it only shows a very limited number of Apple apps, not my entire list of apps (oh I was SO hoping this would solve the problem!)

Sorry, I misunderstood - I thought you meant on your account, not on the iPad. If you can access them via the search screen then they must be on the iPad somewhere. How many homescreens do you have on the iPad ? There is a limit of 11 homescreens, after which apps are only accessible via the spotlight search screen. If you have 11 screens then you can make more apps 'visible' by putting apps into folders (you can have up 20 apps in each folder) - some people find it easier to create and maintain app folders when connected to their computer's iTunes, by using the screen mock-ups on the right-hand side of iTunes on the iPad 'device's' Apps tab.

    1. Make sure you have the latest iTune installed.

    How to hide:

Open iTunes on your device, --> iTunes store --> scroll down till you see, function next to help, tap bought,--> choose the app you want to hide and click the X on top left corner (on the app)..

    How to unhide:

Log into your account--> show hidden purchase --> show --> reinstall the app again...

    regards

ps. thats how I did it.

Thanks - yes I knew that and had organized them in folders down to three screens, but none of the other apps appeared although they behaved nicely on the search page just as you describe.  Which was why I was trying unsuccessfully to unhide them.  After a very long discussion with Apple support, the answer turned out to be simply to reboot the iPad.  BINGO all the precisely invisible apps now appeared.  So it's what you are suggesting PLUS you have to reboot the machine in order to complete the job.
