WiFi switching off when in lock screen happens when you have CellularData set to ON.

Turn cellulardata OFF and WiFi stays ON.

On mine it doesn't make any difference with the Celldata on or off, the wifi drops off as soon as it locks. Tested at home too with the never option, no good. I can send 20 emails, I won't get them until i wake it up.

The reset thing works at home and work, but is a pain.

Oh and to clear up one more thing. I took the wife’s ipad to work, still running 5.1.1, worked on the corporate network and the guest network. Grabbing emails the whole day sitting on my desk untouched.

My coworkers have the same problem except one guy with an iphone5, never had any trouble at all in any of the ios6 versions... It just doesn't make sense. I wonder if they have multiple venders for wifi chips, driver issues could be an explanation.

The people at Apple really need to get this sorted out ASAP, its basics. Quite dissapointing that they have let this run on for so long. So **** frustrating having to run up your mobile data.

so I've read this thread at least from page 13 until the last post.

I have a 4s running 6.1.3 now and none of the workarounds have worked for me.

Also I should note that I used to have 6.1.2 for several months and this problem only appeared about two weeks ago and not even restoring to factory firmware worked for me..

Please note that I have tried the never autolock, cellular data off, hard reset and all that stuff

An update on my iPhone 4S 6.1.3 (Note: I use my phone on Airplane mode, Wifi on, Data off, Auto-Lock 2 min)

A couple posts back, I thought setting Auto-Off to Never solved my problem, but I have Auto-Off set to 2 min and WIFI doesnt disconnect when screen turns off regardless the duration.

A few things I have definetly noticed:

    1) Router settings. Try to play around with the settings, like turning SPI off, WMI, using B/G speeds instead of N, WEP vs WPA, etc. This matter because I wasnt getting Push Notifications even with WIFI connected during screen off, and I finally turned off SPI firewall, WMI, and set to B/G speeds instead of N speeds. Everything works correctly now.

    2) Turn Data off. Turn Airplane mode on. Turn Wifi on. Restart device with the Wifi on.

    3) Install an app that has Push Notifications and run that app once and set up the notifications in your settings. Restart with the app open. (Apps i installed but app remain unopened during most hours are: Skype, Kik, Gmail. If you are worried about battery consumption, after everything is set up, just never open the app. Push notification doesnt need to have the app open to work.

    Good luck!

Just cheking in: it does work with auto-lock set to "never", don't know why it didn't work at the beggining.

@twinkle: maybe if you have some time to test you should try all those settings one by one (first set them to what they were when the problem occurred) because alltogether seems a bit of an overkill for me...

Could you let me know are you running iOS 6?

Ma phone forgets WiFi network when it goes into the sleep mode

I have an iPad retina and an iPad Air both on iOS7, both wifi only models.  The iPad retina did not get push notification during sleep. The iPad air gets all push notifications during sleep.

Problem was incompatibility between hardware/firmware of my Asus router and wifi hardware/firmware in iPad retina. Since there is nothing I could change in my iPad retina, I changed my router to a Linksys e1200. Problem solved.
