Temp fix for iOS 6 not pushing Exchange mail

Imitation, you make extremely good points, and first impressions are tough to shake. I went though huge push issues with the original Moto Droids. All of them. Droid, Droid X, Pro, Droid 2. I test them for work and we had to pull them all back. They fixed things as Gingerbread was released but it took 9 moths before Moto even acknowledged the issue even with forums filled with thousands of angry customers. Even though its been fixed we still won't use Moto again. That first impression left a huge black eye.

My notifications are still working correctly for me but its been less than a day. My difference is that I was always receiving email via push against our Exchange 2010 servers as well as Gmail. But for the Exchange emails the notifications wouldnt fire on the lock screen or any other screen, even though the red ball was incrementing as expected.

Like others, I believe that Apple is facing a few different issues here. My experience with Apple has been that they have fixed the problems that have plagued me the most with point releases, and I expect that will happen here as well. I'm in IT for 26+ years and am glad I am not Apple trying to deal with the things you listed as the issues don't happen to everyone. I haven't experienced the purple haze, or the scratched coating, but the Verizon voice/data issue drives me nuts as I was expecting that problem to go away after moving to LTE. I have not seen any official response from Apple on that one either, but I did read that (maybe it was from Verizon?) there are 2 antennas and Apple made a design decision to use them both for better reception and call quality. Others, especially in the Andoid camp made the decision to use one for LTE and one for the prior 3G network, giving you voice and data at the same time. Irritating and something that probably won't change for 2 years when Verizon changes their network. Maybe the iPhone 7?

I have been a Droid user since the first one. I recently upgraded (I use that term loosely) from a Droid Razr to the iPhone 5. I use my phone for both compnay and personal use and I need it to be connected to my company's exchange server. Exchange always worked perfectly with my Razr but I am now having the same Push problems that others are having. My customers don't like to wait 15min or till I check my Inbox to reply to them. Now I am getting a lot more phone calls because they need answers immediately. I hate talking to people 😠...

I understand that a new device and operating system is going to have bugs but one this major should be acknowledged by Apple and be a priority for their programmers to find the problem and correct it. If Apple wants the iPads and iPhones to take over the corporate world then it needs to be doing exstensive testing (prior to releases) of the main thing these users want their electronic devices to do which is Mail over Exchange for the majority.

1st Step is admitting you have a problem...

2nd Step is letting your users know you are working on it and a possible ETA if available

3rd Step is Fix It

4th Step is learn from your mistakes...

Just a little update (no fix), I was just on the phone with Enterprise support and they are escalating it up to their enterprise engineering team with high priority...we will see if anything happens from that...I will update when I hear back.

Folks - this bug has happened before (in earlier iOS releases), and it will be fixed - hopefully soon. After it's fixed we'll forget all about it. So just hang tight.

Their response on the simultaneous voice and data not working over Verizon and Sprint is that it was designed that way intentionally.

Brilliant! So they intentionally deprived their customers of a feature that most new Verizon LTE handsets already include. Way to stay one step behind. That's par for the course with crApple.

From my understanding, it was a carrier choice. I had both phone and data on AT&T years ago on 3G when I had a Blackberry.

I have been receiving push notifications all day so far with LTE off....does it ever stop when LTE is off? Is anyone else having the trouble on 3G too?

I have been working fine with push email with LTE off. When I turn it on, it breaks immediately.

Mine is still working one day after going to settings, mail, fetch new data, advanced, selected my exchange account, move it to fetch then back to push. I'm hearing it will eventually break, but so far, so good. LTE on for me. Verizon.

You will hear that simultaneous voice and data is not possible over a CDMA network (not true), and you will hear that the Verizon phones that have simultaneous voice and data use the LTE radio for data and the CDMA radio for voice (partly true).

Every LTE enabled device on Verizon with the exception of the iPhone 5 has simultaneous voice and data capability. Most of those devices have that ability regardless of whether LTE is available, and are able to do it even over a CDMA network.

In order to do simultaneous voice and data over a CDMA network, you have to have two separate cellular antennas. The iPhone 5 does have two separate antennas, but Apple decided to use those two antennas in order to optimize the signal the phone is getting rather than for simultaneous voice and data.

Now, let's get back on topic and hope that Apple fixes this **** push email problem. I am tired of having to turn my cellular data on and off everytime I connect and disconnect from wi-fi.

I tried a few times just turning off LTE only and using 3G, but no go. Have to turn off cellular data all together.

Yes, it will fail again. Might be minutes, hours, or days.

Yes, I tried this as well. Just turning off LTE did not help. I have to turn off cellular data completely as well.

Not only that, if you are on WiFi and your phone sleeps, it may (I am not sure about this) disconnect from WiFi and now you are on cellular data and you can experience the bug, even though you thought you are on WiFi.

I know this is not related to the push problem we are experiencing, but wanted to share some other issues I have noticed/experienced.

I have WPA2 Enterprise wireless setup at all of our locations and initially connecting to this works fine, but then after a little while, the connection becomes disconnected even though the wireless shows it's connected. After turning off wireless and turning it back on, it reconnects and can use wireless again, but eventually goes back to the disconnected state. When I connect to my public wireless, which is open, I do not have any problems. Have yet to determine if it's an issue with the WPA2, or if it's an issue with the RADIUS server certificate. I do however have WPA2 setup at home, and dont have any of these issues.

Another weird, but funny thing I also found was this (tested this on different iPhone 5s as well)

Go into your Photos and play a video (normal photo doesn't work). After the video plays, double tap the home button to show your open apps and slide it to the right to show orientaion and music controls.... notice the Music app is no longer there, but the Photo app now shows? Made me laugh cause even though it's so minor compared to the push notifications and iMessage problem, it's still another bug nontheless.
