Q: Temp fix for iOS 6 not pushing Exchange mail

All,

If you are reading this, you are probable having the same problem as I am:

After you switched to the iPhone 5, Exchange mail is no longer PUSHing to your device.  I have done testing and this problem affects:

1) iPhone 5's running connecting to Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2010 servers.

This does not effect:

1) my iPhone 4S running iOS 6 Beta 6.0 10A5376e

Troubleshooting:

1) Wiped phone and started with completely fresh iOS 6 on my iPhone 5. The only thing I did was add my exchange account.

-Still had same issue.

** How to fix this issue:

1. Go to Mail, Contacts, and Calendar.  Click "Fetch New Data".  Make sure push is on.

2.  Go back to Mail, Contact, and Calendar.  Click on your exchange account. Click on "Days to Sync".  Even if it is set to what you want this on, chance it to a different setting (i.e. 1 week).  You can change this back later, but this is the only way to fix it.

3. Go back to Mail COntact and Calendar.  Click on "Show".  No matter what this setting is on, change it to a different setting. (i.e. 100 recent messages).

4.  Reboot your iPhone 5

5.  Exchange PUSH will be working now.

Thanks,

Clay

I have seen Verizon and Sprint users post that they are having the issue. No one for AT&T yet that I recall.

I am on AT&T but am having this problem after upgrading to ios6 on my iPhone 4S. I was testing over wifi yesterday. It's been about 24 hrs since disabling Safari sync in iCloud settings has fixed push for me (wifi and over AT&T coverage).

DQMIA, out of curiosity, did Apple escalate your issue to Enterprise Support because you have Apple Enterprise Support?

In keeping this thread in line with the original problem, our organization has the same issues.  (1) Push Mail eventually stops working on the iPhone 5s configured to MS Exchange 2010; (2) push mail with Gmail set up as Exchange also stops after a while; (3) all iPhone 3G, 4, and 4s with push mail still work with iOS 6; all iPad 2s and 3s with iOS 6 also work flawlessly with our MS Exchange 2010; (4) it does not appear to be carrier-specific--we have 5s afflicted on Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint.   Reset all Network Settings fixes our 5s for 10 minutes to 8 hours.  But it's temporary: push always stops working within 10 hours.

We've escalated the issues to Apple, but I am afraid they will come back and say they can't resolve the issue because of Exchange 2010.  Unfortunately, we purchase our phones out-of-pocket and provide our enterprise users with stipends.  Thus, we don't have an Enterpise support plan.  But I wonder if they'd still escalate to Enterprise given how wide-spread this problem appears to be.  We're dead in the water without Push, given how important it is for supporting our enterprise IT products.

    Hi GrayBird,

No, I do not have any contracted support agreement with Apple Enterprise Support.  They escalated me because they realized the severity of the issue and I guess the kindness in their hearts .  Frank from river forest...I knew it.  It was too good to be true!  Sigh...wait wait wait....lets see what apple says.

    Hello everyone,

We followed this tread pretty closed.  We have about 45 new Iphones that we didn't want to go out without the email working.  Well, after much trial and error (same as most people:  "Cannot connect to server" error), we just found out that, actually, the only accounts that does not work is the domain admins.  We have already done some 10 phones and they all connect to Exchange, except the 3 domain admin accounts.  Well, I hope that set some of you closer to resolution...

I don't think any of us had a "Cannot connect to server" error. You seem to be describing a different problem.

Can I just say... this stinks!

If it wasn't for my fear that the resale price is about to plummet, I would keep using my iPhone 4S until this was worked out.

Just an update for fellow sufferers of this problem.  I met with our Verizon rep this evening.  As we spoke, he watched the ticket count and the internal posts from their technicians about this very issue go up every time he refreshed his screen.  Got my issue added to the posts.  Given the effects this has on enterprise users, he says Verizon’s Apple contacts will likely escalate the matter with Apple as well. I’ll keep everyone  posted on what I hear.

Anyone have hotmail push still working when corporate exchange push stops working. Oddly my hotmail account set up as exchange on my verizon iPhone 5 works all the time.   But my corporate email has the bug in this thread.  Works only for a short while after reboot or switching airplane mode on/off.    Why would push still work with hotmail?

A couple of iPhone 5 users including myself in a enterprise (Exchange) environment have noticed e-mail starting to flow to the iPhone 5 as expected since approximately 7:00pm Eastern 9/27/2012 while the device has an LTE signal.  I see this forum has been quiet since then - is anyone else noticing their devices working as expected now?  It's now 7:50am Eastern - and current e-mails are now be delivered in our environment in seconds.  The constant "Connecting..." is no longer present for us.

Still not working for me.  Apple Enterprise Support has asked me to give them some console logs which I'm obtaining by using the iphone configuration utility.  I'm glad its working for some people but it might only be temporary.  I've seen push stay up anywhere between 10 minutes to 8 hours.  It seems your past that mark so perhaps you got lucky.  As for the rest of us...still testing.  I know noahs and Frank have collected console logs.

Noah and Frank when you guys where monitoring the console logs on your phone do you see the aspd daemon crash the minute push stops working?  The weird part is I can't reproduce the issue when the phone is connected to my macbook air via the iphone config utility??  Anyways, still trying...

Nevermind.  I caught the phone as push crashed but only saw one reference to apsd.  Anyways, logs have been submitted to Apple Enterprise Support.  I should hear back from them on Monday.

Can someone having the issue with exchange push email please test this.  Set up your hotmail account as an exchange account on your iphone 5 (here are the instructions):

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/how-to-access-and-sync-hotmail-on-iphone-ipad-push -email-contact-and-calendar/

Now see if you see what I see.  My hotmail push stuff works ALL the time on my Verizon iPhone 5-- no issues ever..  However, my work/corporate exchange email account has the bug that is the subject of this thread.  It works for a short time after a reboot or toggling airplane mode.

Now why would Hotmail (set up as exchange) push email work, but not my work push exchange account?  Does a Hotmail exchange account work differently?   Is this a clue towards a fix for Apple for the issue in this thread?
