ios 6/Bluetooth MAP and uConnect

Now that I believe iOS6 supports the Bluetooth MAP protocol, has anyone had any luck with the Chrysler/Jeep uConnect and sending text messages?

Thanks

Mark

I upgraded to iOS6 and still can't send text messages through uconnect and Siri. I have 2012 Chrysler 200. Although after upgrade a small bluetooth icon appears when you activate Siri, it still doesn't work through car audio. If you touch the icon and change from 'Bluetooth' to 'iphone' you're able to use siri through phone only. That's progress at least b/c before the upgrade Siri wouldn't work at all. More feedback and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dustin

I just got a 2012 Wrangler with the Uconnect 430n radio. I've tried with both my iPhone 4 and my g/fs iphone 4s, both upgraded to 6.0. I've tried deleting and repairing the bluetooth connections on the stereo and the phone with no luck. I have made sure that the "Show Notifications" is "On" in the bluetooth settings for the Uconnect profile on the phones, but still no luck.

I'm not sure what else can be done, but I'd love to hear if someone lucky enough to score an iPhone 5 already is having problems or success!

So, partial success, but not really:

So I had my jeep in for survice this morning on a completley unrelated issue. After it was done, and on a whim I decided to try "SMS" on the uconnect and low and behold it gave me all the options to read and send. I had nothing to read, so I decided to try to send something. It allowed me to go through all the menu prompts as needed to send one of the preloaded messages and on to send.

However, it came back with "Send failed", or something to that effect. I won't have a chacne to mess with it more for a few days, but another thought did occur to me: Even if the iOS 6 stuff is complient "enough" to activate the SMS, it would be entirely up to Apple to have intengrated the iMessage stuff with the SMS stuff. What I mean by that is that it's possible that we'll be able read/write true SMS messages via uconnect, but I wonder if those messages that are sent via iMessage (to another iPhone, or mac running Messages) will be included.

So..more testing/poking around is needed, but I guess some progress is better than no progress. I hadn't changed anything since my last attempt so I have no idea why it started working this far, but one thought comes to mind is that there's a fair chance that the dealer disconnected the battery while doing the work that needed doing since I think that's fairly standard procedure, so maybe that's needed to "reset" the uconnect? I don't know...

Ok, so I was able to play with this a little more. One thing that I have discovered is that I have to wait until the phonebook has finished downloading after each connection. If I try to initiate and SMS fuction before this is done, i'll get the "SMS not availalbe for this mobile device" message. However, if I wait until after the phonebook download is done, then I can get to the SMS menu and attempt to send and recieve messages.

However, any send I tried to do fails and anytime I try to read, it says there are no messages to read, even if I have a new one that's just come in while connecting.

I have a 2011 Chrysler 200 and new iPhone 5. I have been able to get SIRI to work fine with Uconnect. Here is my issue, Uconnect will not download my entire phonebook. I had to get a new iPhone 5 yesterday. When I got in the car and paired the new iPhone 5 with my Uconnect, it download the entire phone book. Last night I noticed after installing my apps that Uconnect only had a portion on my phonebook downloaded. Could there be an app interferring with the phonebook download? if so, anythoughts on trouble shooting. Also, I have music on phone, there was no music when i was able to get the entire phone book. Could this be the issue

I noticed you mentioned phonebook in your post and wondering if you had any thoughts on my issue below. Thanks

I only download my favorites as I don't want my full contacts downloaded. Too Many people. Won't call from the car. I would re-pair the phone and check the Bluetooth settings on the iPhone after it pairs. Hit the right arrow and check the settings. Then force the download via your my files and address book in uconnect settings.

Btw what version do you have? I would also check with the dealer for updates as I do seem to remember my full contact list wouldn't fully download when the dealer paired my phone. Many limited but the head unit should be capable of a lot of names. Bug?

I have a 2012 Dodge Charger with uConnect and my 4s worked perfectly with it; however once I got the iPhone 5 earlier this week I have not been able to get my phone to pair with uConnect at all. My phone is discovering uConnect, but uconnect is not finding my phone...

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the two to pair so I can at least make calls?

I assume you're going through the standard uconnect pairing process, but how far do you get? All the way to where you told uconnect what the pairing password is and all that?

The only thing that comes to mind to try would be to erase all paird phones from the uconnect and try again, maybe it's getting confused between your old phone and your new one, but I don't know why that should matter...but doesn't hurt to try.

Well when I first got the phone it took it about 10 minutes but it finally paired with the car, but when I got in the next morning it did not pair with the car automatically like my 4s used to, so I deleted all the phones and went through the process to re-pair my iPhone 5. My iPhone 5 will find uconnect and uconnect will give me the password, but after about 2-3 minutes it will say phone not found check dodge.com for compatability. This morning I deleted uconnect out of my phone and tried to start from scratch and the uconnect finally said pairing with phone please wait but after 15 minutes it still had not paired and my phone kept saying uconnect was turned off or out of range. I wish I would have never deleted the phone in the first place, but regardless it was pairing correctly or automatically....

So now I don't know what to do...

I spend about 40 minutes on the phone with Apple support. They do not know why my iPhone 5 will only sync 1/3 of my contacts with the uconnect phonebook. I have not had any issues pairing my iphone 5 the 12 times that i have delete and re-paired trying to get the contacts to sync 100%. Also, the phone pairs everytime in get into the car. I have wiped phone and cannot get it to work. Apple support informed my they have several calls about uconnect sync issues they are researching. Good luck, I am frustrated.

I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Uconnect and it will pair but it knocks out the hard drive on my phone, meaning, Siri and sounds stop working it will lock up the screen, speak to text won't work, etc. I have spoken with Apple support and did a hard reboot. Sounds just come and go. I took the phone to Apple and they wiped it back to factory setting. At this point I had no clue that Uconnect was the cause of all this, so I took the new phone and tried pairing it to Uconnect and got the same results on my phone.

I was on the phone w/Apple support for an hour with no end result. I called Chrysler, no results, so last but not least I called Uconnect and was told that the iphone 5 ios is not compatible but Uconnect did some upgrades on their system with the 2013 Jeep Cherokee and it works just fine. His solution was to go purchase a 2013! I just switched from android (which had no problem pairing with Uconnect) 14 days ago!

So I now have had 2 brand new iphone 5's destroyed because of Uconnects system. And my husbands phone destroyed as well! Needless to say I am now on my 3rd and he is on his 2nd iphone 5 and will not try to use Uconnect!
