I'm getting a ear piece speaker buzzing in my iPhone 5?

I've got the same buzzing problems with my new iPhone 5. It starts as soon as I start to call someone, even before the other end starts ringing, and seems to be there constantly during the call.

I've booked an appointment at my local Apple Genius Bar on Monday.

Don't know what they will do if it needs replaced as they are currently sold out!!

I am also getting the same buzzing problem. Seems to be like a problem with the new iPhone.

My iPhone 5 is a week old and yesterday I started to notice the same buzzing noise (and really a vibration on my ear) occasionally while on a phone call. I have noticed no other issues with the phone, but I agree that for a new device this is quite annoying. When time allows I plan on making a trip to the Apple store to see if this is a widely reported issue and if there is anything that can be done about it. In the mean time if anyone gets an answer please share with the group. I have seen reports of this issue on the iPhone 4s so perhaps it is just one of those quirky issues that we will have to live with if we are committed to the iPhone. BTW, I am a new Apple convert from the Galaxy S technology and hope that I don't regret the switch.

Surprisingly enough the noise has just disappeared over time.

I have the same annoyance. Bought my 5 on 12-23 and Apple has already replaced it but to no avail.

Customer support has been trying to find a solution, but nothing yet

Also having this issue. Upgraded to the 5 with Orange (UK) mid December. When ever i am on call, 1 min or so into the call, the earpiece (presumably where the vibration feature is housed) begins to buzz, and doesn't stop until the call ends.

Same problem here, bought phone 12/31. Anyone fine a resolution yet? Heading back to exchange today hopefully.

No word from Apple, but I am getting the issue much less often now.

Just got back from Apple Store. Interestingly enough the customer before me was there for the same reason. They couldn't reproduce the problem...of course , but replaced the receiver on the phone. So far so good. Will keep you posted.

So 24 hours after the fix and the buzzing was back. I returned to the Apple store. They replaced the phone and said that they would be unable to replace it again. 5 hours onto the new phone and the issue us back. Where oh where is my Galaxy III???

I have the same problem with my phone and was told by the Apple Genius that the problem is the noise cancellation technology. He said I am one of the 2% who hear it and there was nothing they could do. If I cover up the mic for the sound canceling the buzz does go away. Not sure of my next step but the current status is unacceptable.

At least they knew what the problem was.... That's the first semi-fix I have heard. I agree this is not acceptable. I'm sure the will fix it by the time the iPhone 5s comes out and our device is obsolete.

hi guys i have the iphone 5 32g black and am now getting the buzzing noise dont think it started till after the phone updated ,not the last one but the one before ? may have been the last one. only had it for 3 or 4 months

Possible LifeProof case solution:

It's the Lifeproof case that causes the hum. I read it on a site that has reviews of the case. You need to decrease the air pressure of the case. This is acomplished by pushing in the clear plastic square while putting the phone in the case. It fixed my hum. Good luck.

I have the same problem. My iPhone 5 is brand new. I shut all the vibrate options and that seemed to work so far.
